First, I need a location....someplace that's open all night with a place to plug in the laptop. In Tacoma (where I used to live) there was a great 24hour coffee shop; are there any up here in Seattle?

Secondly, if there are any REAL night owls (I'm a night-shifter....8am is an early bedtime), would you be interested in a write-in? I have to plan around my nights off, but I would like to not be stuck in my apartment every time.

I'm not sure of a potential location, I'll keep a look out... But I'd love this; I do most of my writing around 3am anyway. :p

Ooh ooh! I'm going to throw in 13 Coins in Seatac as a potential candidate. Open 24 hours a day and definitely on the ritzy side when it comes to entrees, but cheap for booze or appetizers. I'll call 'em and ask if they have any outlets we can use. ;)

I've been looking for somewhere in the Fremont/Wallingford area for evening write-ins. But so far not having a lot of luck. :-(

I've had a hard time finding late-night write-in locations personally. There used to be a coffee shop on the Kirkland waterfront that was open until midnight, but they were bought out by yuppies who made everything white-washed and now close at 9.

If anyone comes up with a late night location can you let me know?

The only places I could think of would be a Denny's or an I-Hop. There is a Denny's in Bellevue (with Wi-Fi) and another in Totem Lake area of Kirkland. I don't think they have WiFi, but both places are open 24/7.

So, I found out that the Cafe Ladro coffee shop in lower Fremont is open until 11pm daily. I called them and they have wi-fi and electric plugs near most of the tables. When I've been in there in the evening it usually isn't too crowded, though right after work and early mornings they are often slammed.

It's not quite Fremont or Wallingford, but Beth's might work. Yummy food, interesting environment, and wifi.

I seem to remember there being regular write-ins at Beth's in the past. Unfortunately I just find it too difficult to get to via mass transit from where I live. :-( Even though it isn't that physically far away, it's an hour by bus with two transfers on crazy roundabout routes. Or two very, very long and scary walks in the dark through an ugly area to take a one transfer route. Just not willing.

For others though, it might be a nice location. I just prefer to stay the heck away from anything on Aurora.

There's a 24-hour 13 Coins in downtown Seattle too, at 125 Boren Ave N

Where is Beth's located? And if someone needs a ride, I could drive them. I am not a bus person at night either.

Denny's is not a good option. They have limits on how you can stay there.

I found the jackpot.

Uncle Elizabeth's Internet Cafe, open til 1 AM every night. May not be late enough for the hardcore nightowls, but I personally tucker out by about 1 AM and it's perfect for my schedule. SO, methinks I'll be there often. Let's get a write-in established! WHO'S WITH ME.

1123 Pike St.--the heart of downtown. <3

I've been looking into a late-night write-in at Jitters sometime about half-way through the month. Jitters is located behind Sears Overlake in Bellevue/Redmond at 148th and NE 20th. Jitters closes at 7:30 which is when we've ended most write-ins there. But I've been talking to the manager and she may be game to open for a late-night write-in for two or three hours if there were enough people interested. She'd come and open the shop exclusively for the use of NaNo writers from about 10:30 till 1:30 or so. If anyone on the east side is interested, let me know and I'll pursue making this a reality. If I don't hear from folks I'll save the idea for next year. (We may be outgrowing Denny's for HalloNaNoWeen!)

Does Friday or Saturday night work best for people for a late-night write-in in Bellevue? I'm thinking around 10:30-1:30 on either Friday the 13th or Saturday the 14th. Manager of Jitters told me today that she was interested in doing it and they could hold up to about 40 people in the three rooms there. Please be aware, I haven't talked to her about a fee yet. I may ask people to chip in to have the place opened up for us or make it a two drink minimum (coffee, tea, chocolate, granita, and sodas).

Let me know the interest. I'll get feedback from this thread first and then open a new thread for just that event.

Thnx!

ladro would be a great place to have some late nights or semi late nights at least its close enough to the bars in fremont to get interesting foot traffic outside but still quiet

there is a new restarant opening downtown that will be open all night. The Night Kitchen http://nightkitchenseattle.com/ It will be open from 6 pm to 9 am. I am very excited to give it a try. Their grand opening is Oct. 31. I have heard from friends that it will have a lounge with free wifi and snacks for sale.

We're actually going to do write-ins at Ladro on Wednesdays from 6 pm to 9 pm in November. If some folks want to hang out til they throw people out, that would be cool too!

I've talked to Jitters (Bellevue/Redmond border) management and they'll come in and open the shop for a write-in the night of the 20th or 21st (Friday or Saturday). If you've got a preference, please let me know soon, otherwise we'll just pick a date. This will be a late-night write-in, ~10:30-1:30. Two drink minimum.

Anybody want in?

Either one works fine for me (20th or 21st), although I would probably be a little late on the Friday night, and leave earlier on the Saturday. It's my weekend off but I have plans Friday evening and early Sunday morning. :-P Oh, and I don't drink - is that a problem? I like herbal tea and water, lol.

I just realized a perfect place for all night writing with no obligation to buy anything....Top Foods in Shoreline has a cafe area. There's no wifi, but there are places to plug in a laptop. They also have a microwave there, so you can bring food in or buy it in the store (open 24 hours). I have played cards with my boyfriend there late into the night before, and they were pretty cool with it since we weren't making a whole lot of commotion. They would probably be cool with a couple people hanging out with laptops/journals.

I have to look at my schedule to see when I'll be available to schedule an unofficial write-in. Or maybe official. That means I actually have to do it. I suppose I could go in and ask the manager....so....yeah. I'll do that sometime this week. :)

The Night Kitchen looks AWESOME! Hmmm....I'm definitely into trying that out. A graveyard worker's best friend, for sure!

I get paid on Friday and I may be into hitting it up after my Friday evening plans; maybe sometime around 11pm. Sounds really reasonable, price-wise.

The Night Kitchen looks Awesome! I would definitely go to a late night write-in there. The other ones are a bit too far out of the way for me to trek late at night.

I'd also go to a late night write in... I'm up at 4-4:30 usually, so I could bump my schedule a bit and get up at 2 or so to write before work. I'd be really interested in say a 2-4:30/5 write session.

I am down with having an informal write-in this Sunday night (the 8th) into Monday morning. I am off work and it would be a good time to get a lot of writing in. Location: The Night Kitchen, 216 Stewart St, Seattle. Anyone that wants to join me is welcome. I'm not sure what time I'll show up, but I probably won't leave until 5am or later.

The Kent/Des Moines write in is too early for me (3-6pm) but middle of the night is too late... are you interested in something in the middle... say 7-10? I'm near enough to Seatac that the 13 Coins would be a good option for me.

Once again, I just spoke with the owner of the Night Kitchen, and they have not yet opened for business. Their original Oct 31st opening was delayed due to government paperwork. She would LOVE to have us WriMos there after they open, and they are hoping to open on Nov 20th.
