Yes this is a good spot with the coffee upstairs. Sometimes gets crowded with Pierce students and has limited electrical outlets but I also endorse it. Good atmosphere.

My only problem with this is that it is way, way too far west.

But for places in the West Valley, I suppose you aren't really going to find any better. I tend not to go any farther than Pierce, and even that is done grudgingly/reluctantly overall.

The past is strapped to our backs. We do not have to see it; we can always feel it.

I'm in depending on the day/time. During the week also works for me.

First time attempting NaNoWriMo. Almost did it last year, but got into things a bit late. Determined to make an attempt at it this time.

Meeting up here sounds good. Need some way to keep me focused. Saturday's are probably best for me, later in the day. Might be able to do evenings during the week occasionally.

It looks like we are developing a small but dedicated core to this location. I am looking forward to doing some writing with you fine folks. I think you're going to like it here.....

it's a perfect location for me, any time during the weekend works.

I just learned about NaNoWriMo a few days ago so this is all new to me. Looking forward to my first Write-In and novel! This location is very close to me. Has a date and time been set? ~Melissa

I probably won't make it on Saturdays, but I'll definitely be there at various times over the next month. Maybe I'll spot some of you there. I feel like we need to wear secret badges or something so we'll know who's NaNoWriMo and who's just a regular person. :)

Yeah, I think that's a great idea, much more convenient than going off to Van Nuys.

Also, I do think it would be completely cool if we had a secret little writing badge.

I think badges are a great idea. I have a little Nano pin somewhere from a previous year. One of the ML's gave it to me during a write in, maybe that could happen again?(wink,wink to ML's).
Now that we seem to have a cadre of West Valleyites I think we are about ready to post a formal meeting day/time.
I propose Saturday morning at perhaps 10am or 11am.
Why so early you ask?
The reason being that this is a very popular place and the seats get filled quickly .Whoever is the earliest could save a table and the actual write in could proceed throughout the day, or until you've burned out.
I tend to be there throughout the week so I am frequently at a write in of my own making , Saturday could be our "formal" time.

Any final thoughts on my plan?

I can't make it this Saturday but I am going to Borders on Tuesday morning and Thursday morning of this week. Let me know if anyone wants to have coffee or say hello.

Since I don't have a NaNoWriMo badge, I bought a NaNoWriMo mug-sipper-thing from the NaNo shop. I will have it prominently displayed as I write at Borders, so feel free to stop by and say hello. I'm kind of a night writer, but I may be there during the day too. Good luck all!

That's a great borders but there never seems to be seats available when I go :( love shopping there though, love to meet some of you guys there :)

This is my first time attempting a novel in a month and I'm stoked. Hope everyone's meeting their daily word count quota. Trying to build myself a little cushion early for when it gets harder, but I'm just at the quota as it is...

I will be there on Saturday morning but I am going to leave the times up in the air.Just look for me if you like, a fellow obviously in deep thought about things of great importance.The less intuitive of you can scan for a Nano pin or, at least, the word "Nano"written on my laptop.
I will do the same for any of you, whether it be Saturday or any other day. Let's simply search out Nano tags and collaborate....

I'm thinking I'll try to drop by here tonight(Wednesday) for an hour or two. Probably from 8-10.

QUESTION: I have been to this Borders many times for purchases but never to write. What's the writing accommodation situation? Lots of chairs? Comfortable? Tables? Outlets? WiFi? Smooth Jazz playing softly or no music at all? Is the hot chocolate stellar or mediocre? Are there croissants? After all, what's noveling without a croissant? And will I have to bring my stink-eye look with me and throw it at loud kids after school? I just want to know what I should pack. I also have a pretty good "Who raised you?" face I could pack as well.

Answers would be appreciated as I'm far too lazy to drive over there-- laptop in tow-- without knowing the full scoop.

It is generally kinda crowded upstairs by the cafe almost every time I've been up there(mostly evenings). Last time I was there I snagged one of the few spots in cafe open and lost it about 45min later when I didn't trust to leave my stuff while I went to the restroom.(From someone already there in another spot so I suppose I could have taken their spot, I was being all that productive so I opted to just leave.)

Pretty quiet up there for the most part. Always seems to be a few college kids working on homework. Cafe is pretty good; don't know about croissants. I always bring headphones for environments like that anyways.

Does anyone go there during the day? I'm going to try and make it over there between 11am and 2pm this Friday or next week.
