The kickoff party has typically been a nicely attended event with writers meeting up, eating some tasty food, exchanging ideas, sharing past NaNo stories, and in general having a good time. This year, will hopefully be no different.

We’re doing things a little differently though. Normally we have the TGIO party in December at Aunt Chilada’s. To shake things up a bit we’re going to meet there at the beginning of NaNo this year. How exciting!

We will be meeting at Aunt Chilada’s in Hamden on Sunday – October 25th at noon. Please RSVP by 10/24 so that I can call in a correct head count before we bombard the place.

Directions and a menu can be found online at: http://auntchilada.com/

Any questions? Let me know.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it :( My ride/husband doesn't get off work until 2pm that day, and we only have the one car.

I'll be with you all in spirit though!

Looks like I will be there. Providing there is no unmanageable snowstorm that day.

I have work til one and have to go straight to a voiceworkshop :( It's my favorite restaurant and everything!
But maybe I'll tell my voice teacher I'll be a little late and come for an hour or so. It's a realy quick drive from Aunt Chilada's to voice. So not a definite no, but sadly I probably can't come.

I rsvp'd via email...but I figured I would here as well. Count me in, unless we get several feet of snow and/or ice.

Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to make it. (Despite really wanting to) I'm going to a halloween party the night before in New York and I'm staying over in New York that night. I'm not sure I'd have the energy after a two and a half hour drive to actually make it to a kick off party.

Please have a ton of fun though. I do hope to go to other events. :D

I'd like to give a definite Maybe.

I'm just getting back in the saddle after being away for a week - at this point it looks like I'll be free, and according to Ye Saced Dayplanner I'll be free, buuuuuut I also have to work on planning meetings, etc. this week, so depending on the scheduling of those events, I may not be free.

I think I only made sense to myself.

Anyhow - put me down for a "maybe." I'll try to get there!

For all those that have responded with a 'maybe,' please let me know by Saturday if the maybe has turned into a definite answer whether it be yes or no.
I need a head count not only for the restaurant but for myself as well. I try to do goody bags for each NaNo participant every year and want to make sure that I have enough.
Thanks! Looking forward to seeing many of you on Sunday.

Hmm. How long do you think this'll run for? Maybe I'll be able to swing by after my workshop, even if I don't have time to eat.

It usually runs about 1-2 hours, depending on how many people show up....

I love Aunt Chiladas, and I'd really like to go to the kick-off party and meet everyone. This is my first year doing NaNo--sadly I'm not sure if I can make it since I'm pretty busy this weekend. I'm doing a production of the Rocky Horror Show at the Playwright in New Haven, and a college friend of mine is going to be visiting. But, I'll see what I can work out. I'll definitely let you know if I'm going by Saturday.

If I don't go, I hope I get to meet everyone at write-ins and such.

Cheers!!
Ann

I will be there, also with hubby. Per his request, I am here noting his wonderfulness.

We'll see how wonderful he's feeling in three weeks!

Note to self: Keep hubby well plied with Margaritas throughout the month of November.

Willing to make room for one more?

I will officially be attending, there to irritate the general lot of you. [I apologize for this in advance.]

Might bring my mom along, if you don't mind.

Can I let you know if I can come tomorrow afternoon or is that too late? I may not have to work and might be able to come for the first 45 minutes or so.

Hey Lizzie...Gonna bring my friend along if that's alright. She's sort of my go-to plot checker. :) But we can share a goodie-bag, or don't need one at all...let me know if it's too late to ask for her to come with.

Thanks!

-Margi

Please just let me know no later than 3pm as I have to call Aunt CHilada's and give the manager a head count at that time.

I'm sorry this is a little late, but my husband and I will be there, too.

Ahhhhh! I guess it's too late? :( I worked this evening and was pretty excited I would be able to make this cause I don't have to do anything til one tomorrow. Oh well. Hopefully I'll be able to come to a write in or two.

If it's at all possible for me to come (can I just go by myself and then join you guys?) it would be me and my mum.

See you all there tomorrow. Looks like we have 25-30 people coming 22 of which are attempting NaNo this year. :-)
Please, please, please let me know if you can't make it. The earlier the better, as I will be calling to make any additions or subtractions to our list first thing in the morning.

Post kick off party...it was really great to see all of you and talk to you--new faces and recognized faces. :) Just wanted to say as much.

By the way...start training for the tug-of-war competition. Maybe we can be on ESPN too!

(Edit: For those of you for whom that reference is nonsense...on one of the tvs at Aunt Chilada's, ESPN was airing a tug-of-war competition and it sent the entire table I was at into laughter. We also decided that in addition to a wordcount this year, maybe we'll have a tug-of-war competition. Though...it'll probably be too cold.)
