It seems all the write-ins scheduled in the city or North/Northeast part of the county are all in the afternoon or evening. I'm wondering if anyone would be up for a Saturday morning write-in a couple of times during the month. I'm thinking that the White Marsh Panera might work, or I could check with Grind On cafe in the Hamilton area on Harford Road...maybe between 8 and 11AM?

Let me know if you're interested and where you'd prefer to meet and we'll go from there.

I would definitely be up for Grind On or Red Canoe. I'd be happy to talk to Red Canoe about making it official.

Does Red Canoe have outlets and enough room for a group? I don't think I've ever noticed before. Either place is fine with me.

I don't know about outlets - I'll check. They have two separate dining areas and the outdoor courtyard if the weather is nice, so I'd like to think we could get them to reserve a few tables for us. I shall have to make the huge sacrifice tomorrow and do some research (read as "buy a muffin and look at the outlet situation").

There's a third person looking in the area -- she's over in the Baltimore City thread but I'll get her to look over here.

Sounds like a great research plan. :) I just checked on the hours at Grind On and they open at "roughly" 6AM on Saturdays so that should work if Red Canoe doesn't. I'm not sure about outlets at Grind On, but they should have enough tables. I have a power strip if necessary for either place (I think it has 6 outlets in it), so as long as we have access to one outlet, we should be good.

Keep me posted.

Grind On or Red Canoe sound like winners to me! Please keep me posted.

Red Canoe said they'd love to, but that early Saturday morning is difficult for them because a singing group comes in at that time. They offered a specific Saturday afternoon - the 14th, I think? - or any Sunday afternoon. They have a room they could give us with comfy chairs and outlets and stuff.

Thanks for looking into that, Sarah. Unfortunately, afternoons on Saturdays and Sundays don't really work for me. You're welcome to set something up at Red Canoe for anyone who can do those times, though. It's a great location.

I'll look into Grind On a bit more to make sure they'd be open to a group in the morning in case anyone is still interested in a Saturday morning write-in. Either way, that's probably where I'll end up since Red Canoe has a singing group in the morning.

I'm up for something early morning-ish in the county. I work night shift so being able to go somewhere after work and just dive into my writing would be exciting.

I've officially scheduled the write-in at Grind On Cafe on Harford Rd. in Hamilton from 8 to 11 AM on Saturdays. The owner asked only that we don't bring in outside food and drink. They sell coffee, sandwiches, bagels, and desserts. I think they have free wi-fi, too. Hope to see you there!

I'll be there!
And early morning might not be the best time for ice cream, but they have Taharka Bros/Sylvan Beach ice cream, which is AWESOME. Not only is it delicious, but the ice cream co. employs kids who've been living on the street and/or gotten out of gangs.

Ice cream can be our early lunch. :) What better reward for pounding out thousands of words, right?

Sounds reasonable. Bagel and coffee in the morning, ice cream if I can get 2000 words written in a couple of hours.

Sorry to anyone who showed up at the Grind On Cafe this morning. It looks like the owner is sick so they were closed. If anyone is interested, I'm at the White Marsh Panera until 11 AM (sitting in the corner at the high table.) If not, write wherever you are! Have a great weekend boosting your word count.

I got there at 8:40 just as the owner was arriving - he had overslept. The sick sign was apparently from yesterday. The coffee was great, and I wrote 2200 words. I'll probably do it again next weekend as well, if anyone cares to join me. Hopefully the owner will set his alarm.

Colleen-

Unfortunately I'm going to a conference tomorrow and won't be able to make it. I'm not sure if Sarah is planning to go but you could message her.

Good luck with your writing wherever you do it!

I'll be there! As with last week, I may be a little late - 8:30 or 9.
