Our expatriate participant, Huushita, is now a co-ML in Calgary and has asked if we want to resurrect the Calgary/Manitoba word war for this fall. I'm in - anyone else game?

Last year we compared average word count by individual and that worked well to balance out the difference in numbers.

If people are interested, post here... this worked really well for us as a way to get people involved and active last year... (Please remember, a little good-natured ribbing between the cities is fine - personal attacks, flaming, and just plain nastiness are not. Be. Nice.)

-Betty & Heather-

(For the record, we beat their pants off. Which means there are now a lot of pantless Calgary wrimos facing the winter....)

Children of Alberta, you will know what true mastery is, and you will weep for that knowledge.

I'm in, the contest helped keep things interesting.

Also, we need to give it back to them for that little snow storm they sent our way. Good thing it all melted right away.

ywgdana has suggested in the Saskatoon Gauntlet that we add a donation war to our word war challenges; randilin has seconded it, and I'm good with this, so let the games begin.

-Betty-
(PS: If you throw bills at the screen it hurts less than toonies....)

Quoted from Saskatoon thread:

ywg_dana wrote:
If I may offer a second gauntlet, I notice how the current donation totals are:

Manitoba: $450
Saskatchewan (I included both Regina and Saskatoon): $245
Calgary: $210 (although Edmonton has $520 donated so far)

I think while they are trying to match us in word count, SK and Calgary should also try to compete for donations raised.

AND we Nanotobans should try and pass Edmonton!

Randilin wrote:
I think Dana makes a great point. We've proven in the past we can crush them in words but beating someone in donations would be a big win for everyone.

*laughs* YAYYYYYYY I can now root for both teams on the same post!!!

Come on 'Peggers. Beat them Calgarians.

Come on Wrimo's... beat them 'Peggers!!! *snickersnort*

This. Is Awesome. :)

Also, just so the Peggers know, we're taking a cute little piggy bank named Mr. Piggy to all the meet ups. At the end of them month we'll count it all up to see just how much we've raised. Then, we'll be donating all of that to the OLL on behalf of our region. :)

These threads have now been crossposted to their respective cities so that all may participate in the snowball fight.

Let the depanting begin! Oh wait, that sounded really bad outside of my head...

Now I need to quit farting around on the forums and get back to work...

Hehe yes if we stop... That would mean we'd have to take last years pants off the wall and return them to you wouldn't it?

I think that would suck I paid good money for that plaque to mount them pants... Not a chance. ^.^

I like the pants, I'm sure they have more than one pair! Shirts are just so hard to get a proper fit.

So, do our hard working MLs raise their piggy bank - I'm sure we can find something more substantial.

See, now I'm a brit so to me those things in the pic are pants to me. What I would normally wear over them are trousers.

But yeah, shirts are terrible for me, with the rippling muscles I find when I flex my muscles all the buttons pop off. Oh woe is me, I am cursed with a perfect body! ;)
