I am going to be writing 20000 words in the first four days of National Novel Writing Month because on the 5th I will be leaving and out of town for one week and I will not have access to a computer in that time. So I am going to get my word count up to the point it would be at if I were here the whole time so that when I get back I will not be behind.

Does anybody else want to try to get that many words that early on?

I know some of you are planning on going way over 50000 this month, so if you like you can try to get a similair goal like this.
Or you can try to race me to it.

Let me know what you think and sometime on the night of the 4th before I leave I will let you know if i got that far yet.

You're on!
(My daily goal is 5,000 and I'd like to get ahead of that, so ......)
Katherine
p.s. Good job thinking about how to get ahead so that you make it
through NaNo even without access to a computer. Be sure that once
you do, you write --even if it's just a 100 words the first day--to get
back into it.

The other thing you should do is consider writing a part of your novel by hand while you're away from your computer. It's ok to estimate the wordcount and you can worry about integrating it with the rest of your novel in December.

Ooh. I might attempt this. It depends on my homework situation come midnight. (It will probably be dismal. I still haven't started it. >->)

I thought I would let you all know now that I am no where near 20000 words yet and I will probably not finish NaNo this year.

Daniel,
Sorry to hear you're behind where you wanted to be. Just to note: even without a computer, you can keep writing the old fashioned way, estimate your wordcount and then resume your computer-noveling when you return.

I have returned from my trip of being away and it turns out it was just what i needed to renew my creative spark.

I now have my novel all planned out and I believe i can have ym word count caught up by friday.

Furthermore I plan to finish my novel even if it is more than 50000 words. I'll let you know about that come friday.

Way to go, Daniel! That's really terrific to hear (especially as we've challenged two major word-generating powerhouse regions and are seriously behind in the average wordcount!).

Write, write, write!
