Are there any other writers in the Palm Springs-desert area? If so, it would be fun to connect. I'll be writing in my first NaNo starting...in a few hours!

I'm originally from Palm Springs but now I'm going to UC Santa Cruz. The "Coachella (aka Hell)" thing made me laugh!! Good luck guys :)

Well, can you find any fault in calling Coacehlla "Hell"?

I went to UC Santa Cruz a million years ago... before they were known as the Banana Slugs!! Which campus are you at? (No grammar cracks, please!)

hi, I teach at C.O.D., in fact teach creative writing there! Some of us from the class are starting a creative writing club, and we will probably meet on Fridays. Join us if you want. I'll put something on this forum when we meet for the first time. Drop by the creative writing class if you want, we meet on Tues nightes from 7-9:30 in Liberal Arts 13. Good luck!

you can put a positive spin on it at this time of year and call it "Hella" which makes it sound sorta bearable.

Desert writer here, and it's my first time attempting this feat. I'm all for meeting up for a writing event, and if I come I'll even bring Lady Kwake (since she's my wife).

Nope, nope, I live in Temecula, but I have the whole of Riverside county for my territory as Municipal Liaison. I'm so glad to see this little group spring up and gain some cohesion. Maybe one of you would consider serving as ML for next year's NaNo. I would be happy to help mentor whoever steps up...

In the meantime, I'm here to help everyone and make sure we all get to 50K. I'm slightly ahead of schedule. How are you all doing??

Hello, This is my second time to write with nanowrimo and i am very anxious. I would love to meet with the people who have signed to meet who are doing this project. I will be on the computer everyday for the next month. Contact me when we will meet. I live in Indio and I am hoping the meeting will be in Palm Desert. Phyllis Mickelson

If there are enough of us in this area, maybe we can have a weekly write-in meeting ourselves? What are the requirements? I live in Banning, about 20 minutes from Palm Springs one way and about 20 minutes from Redlands or Moreno Valley the other way. I'm new to the area (from Indianapolis) and want to meet new people, especially writers and dog lovers. I'm raising Dusty, a golden retriever, for Guide Dogs of the Desert.

Simple - all you need is one person willing to say yes, we're having a write-in, this location, this time and I'll be there. There's no minimum number and as someone said during the kick-off party, getting out of the house and writing can be a big boost to your productivity.

Everyone, especially in far-flung parts of the county is encouraged to hold a write-in in a public place.

Just send me the details and I'll add it to the regional calendar.

I live in La Quinta.

I took my laptop down to the River yesterday to work on my NaNoWriMo masterpiece (yeah, right). The guy working at the Borders cafe commented on the writing magazine I was buying so I told him that I was attempting to write 50,000 words in November. He'd heard of NaNoWrieMo through a coworker that's taking part this year, so there's at least another one.

I'd be interested in a write-in the desert area. I might not be able to get down to Palm Springs, but somewhere in Palm Desert would be dandy.

Yes, it must be Palm Desert. Don't drive past there unless it's for a good reason.

Well, I'm going to the college on friday. Why don't I drop by the Palm Desert Library and see about getting a private room for us all to write in? What day and time is good for everyone?
