Thought I'd better start a new thread, since we had such a wonderfully successful kick-off session. Sorry I couldn't stay long, folks!

So these are the Auckland meet-up write-in sessions, as far as I can tell...

WEDNESDAY EVENINGS

  • Starting from 6pm

  • Borders Bookstore on Queen Street

SUNDAY MORNINGS

  • Starting from 11am

  • Albany Westfield Shopping Mall - meet in the courtyard outside near where the inside foodcourt and cinema are... we can decide specific cafe from there. :-)

I know there was a bit of interest from people on the Shore, so I'm happy to be there for the Albany meet-ups, and of course I'll make as many Wednesday evening ones as I can. If anyone wants to organise a weekend Auckland City based write-in... go for it. :-)

I thought the Sunday mornings were 10am at Dizengoff? Wasn't that discussed in the kick-off party thread? Or was that just last year?

I completely missed this mornings kick off at Borders, so I will certainly try to get there this Wednesday for a write in instead! And stay until my coffee, money, or laptop battery runs out.

So excited to find out about these Auckland write-ins! Will make sure I attend a few (still not sure whether Wednesdays or Sundays will work better for me).

10am at Dizengoff. This sounds good. Can anyone else confirm if this is a meeting place?

NOT 10am at Dizengoff as far as I know... sounds like this was where the writeins were held last year. But, if there are enough people interested (hinthint, if you are central now is a good time to postpost), you guys are welcome to meet up there as well!

I can do this Wednesday (Borders) and on Sunday (Albany)! Whoot!

Sunday is great for me, and I'll definitely try to get there for Wednesday, too. I'm working until 6pm, so I'll of course be late, but I really enjoyed the kick off, so I'll do my best to be there as early as possible.

I missed the kick-off but will definitely try to attend the write-in tomorrow and possibly on Sunday as well.

I am a central person, so I shall take your hinthint and postpost :P My friend doing Nano is also a central person. I am sitting with her in a cafe right now and we'd both probably be interested in an extra central city meetup!

Yes, last year we met in Dizengoff... but in the kick-off thread there was more interest in a North Shore Sunday meet-up than a central one. I did say that if someone wants to do a central one, you're more than welcome, but I'll be at the North Shore one for those Shore people who otherwise always have to travel over the bridge for these things :-) Of course, people from over the bridge are MORE than welcome to come to Albany.

Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow night again at Borders!

I could possibly arrange a central weekend meetup for next weekend if anyone is interested... have a possible venue that I just need to ask about but hopefully would work out.

Oh wow, those ones at Albany are the most convenient write-ins for me ever. =D I thought they'd all be in Auckland or something, but I can actually get there on the bus.

You may end up seeing me and some friends at a Sunday write-in.

I'm glad :-) For the past two years I wanted some on the Shore... I thought it was about time it happened lol. Look forward to seeing you and your friends there (hopefully).

And now I must stop procrastinating. After having started my story again, I'm up to about 1,200 words and it's a slow, painful process.

Hmmmmm why did it put my signature in twice?? Strange.

And I would like to clarify.

WE ARE MEETING IN ALBANY THIS SUNDAY.

Westfield Shopping Centre - in the courtyard outside the foodcourt (where all those cafes and restaurants are) - at 11am.

Any chance of some write-ins closer to South Auckland? Like Sylvia Park Borders, or somewhere in Manukau?

I'm all for having a write-in closer to South Auckland. Depends on the numbers I guess.

However I understand that if our North Shore cousins are having a few issues meeting up in Central, South Auckland would be an even greater ask.

Have those write-ins at Borders started yet? Parking is kind of a pain around Central though. Are there many people on the West side of town? Denny's (New Lynn) is open 24 hours:)

This is my first nanowrimo and I'm surprised to find that writing in those few spare minutes around a busy day actually works. Brainstorms in the shower are the best!

@Jagerin
There's been two meetings so far, the kick-off and we also had a write-in on Wednesday at Borders CBD. (I only went to the latter). The next write-in will be this Sunday in Albany mall.

It was lovely to meet lots of you at the write-in on Wednesday, btw! :D Looking forward to the Shore write-in already!

I'm a westie (well west-central!) and would be keen for a meet, though my laptop is incredibly ancient and needs a power supply...

I went to the last one in central the other day, so I will probably be in Albany in sunday. Providing I can find the place, don't know Albany, as I don't get up there that often.

I had uni presentations so missed this Wednesday but, work allowing, I should be going to the other central ones. Albany in the morning is definitely not an option, but it was great to see some new faces last Sunday at Borders :)
If that discussion of central Sunday write-ins running tandem to the Shore ones is going anywhere, I'd like to register my interest.

Just to make it clear. Is there going to be a central one at all tomorrow? or is Albany the only one?

Are people still going to meet up for a central one?

If I may make a suggestion for those who are going to Albany from central but are feeling lost, maybe you could meet up at Borders CBD (and pick up any confused-venue people along the way) and go together by bus? I'm sure there must be at least one bus that drops you directly outside Westfield Albany.

...Or, if enough people turn up for central, maybe you will just stay there? ^_^

Can't wait to go to the Albany write-in tomorrow!

I looked up the bus service and it said it would take about an hour to get to Albany. Which is far too early for me on a sunday morning so.... not gonna be there this time guys :P Have fun though ^_^

The easiest way to get from the city centre to Albany by bus would be to go to Britomart, catch a Northern Express bus (which leaves from a stop on queen st outside the downtown shopping mall), get off at the Albany Station, and then walk from Albany Station to Westfield Albany. The walk takes about 15 minutes max, and I suspect that on a weekend that bus journey should also only take about 20 minutes.

If you're doing this, the cheapest way to do it would be to buy a Northern Pass

Well, seeing as the write in is at 11am, I will show be at Borders at 10am. If anyone shows up I might stay there, otherwise i will drive up to Albany at 10:30.

If anyone wants to go to the Albany write in, I can give them a ride in the car (only takes about 20-25 minutes) from the CBD.

Good turnout for the Albany meet today. We ended up at Columbus right by the courtyard. Hopefully we didn't miss anyone - we were keeping an eye out for people looking lost lol.

Sorry I had to rush off early, but I hope the rest of you got lots of words written. See you all on Wednesday back at Borders.
