Hey all,
All the emphasis seems to be on the first day word count extravaganza, and there looks like a who bunch of people pounded out an insane amount of words to begin with, but the question here is pretty simple. Starting itself always seems to be the hardest thing from my perspective, so the question is, what was you're first sentence, the one that started ye ole ball a rolling. Mine was pretty simple in and off itself.
Someone was going to die.
Well, good luck

I think I wrote the lousiest first few pages I've ever written (I'm usually decently good at beginnings). My first sentence wasn't a grammatical sentence at all, as it was dialogue:
"Rosamond."

My hand grasps a hunk of beige carpet. I pull myself with one arm through the threshold, kick the door closed behind me, and just lay there for a moment, feeling the blood start to drain slower and slower. I sigh. The bleeding may have stopped, but there’s still the sickening sensation of painful warmth somewhere near my lungs.
(We first meet Victor after a bout of internal bleeding because he was out in the sunlight. Happy, ain't it?)
