Hey - just wanted to see if there was anyone else who was a student at UW-Madison or perhaps lives around campus. Mabe we could post on here if anyone plans on sitting around in a library for a good chunk of time writing and/or doing homework? Might be a fun way to have spontaneous write-ins! :-)

Hi, I'm a student at the UW, and I know I met some others at the write-in on Sunday. I think meeting up at a library (Wendt is closest to me, but I can do College pretty easily) some night sounds like a great idea. I need to double-task my writing with studying most of the time anyway... like right now I'm working on a tough dialogue heavy scene and studying for an exam on Wednesday. We must be insane to be doing both of these things!

I don't live on campus, but I'm a student at UW. I think its a great idea to get together and study/write (even if we are insane to be doing both)! I'm a fan of hanging out at the Union, but I know it can get noisy there so I'd be cool with meeting at a library (on or off campus) or a coffee shop or something. We could have a set time and day for each week to get together. I wasn't able to attend the kick off so I'm eager to meet other Nano participants. :)

I don't live downtown or go to the UW, but last year I got a lot of work done at the State Street Starbucks. Their upstairs is awesome with comfy chairs and a fireplace. Since you have to pay for wifi I was able to get a lot of work done. Cutting out the distractions is key for me. I plan on heading down there again one of these days, probably later this week.

I'm with James, I love that place! I'm for trying to get down there again this year, maybe oftener than last year. And...isn't that the place with some kind of "hot caramel apple" drink, like hot spiced cider with caramel in? 'Cause wherever that was if they have it again I'll go THERE to write!

I also live on the east side, but work at Camp Randall. I would also make it to any spontaneous write-ins if I am not planning one closer to home. (Like I am tonight.)

I'm on campus! I'd be up for writing at any of the campus libraries or coffeehouses. Unfortunately, I have class on most days until 5 or 6, so I'll be doing most of my writing in the evenings.

Tomorrow (Wednesday Nov 4) from 6:00 on at the State Street Starbucks?

I'm down for that! I would join you out at B&N today, too, but Doctor Alice has class in the opposite direction and needs the car. State Street is easily walking distance, though!
It may take three times as long to handwrite then transcribe, but damn, it's so distracting in here...

Hey! I live on the far east side, but I'm a student at the UW, too.
----------As for write-ins I'm up for going anywhere as long as I can get there by bus!

I'm also on campus, primarily at Helen C. White (I'm a SLIS grad student and I work at the CCBC). So I'd love to meet up with people on or around campus at some point this month.
Is Wed. evening at the State Street Starbuck's a go? I would also like to humbly suggest supporting local coffee shops on State, such as the mega awesome Steep & Brew.
And now, speaking of the UW, I'm off to do more homework....

OH EM GEE.
So I went to Starbucks on State St. today and tried their caramel apple drink thing. I have never been so inspired to write about food. Finally, a drink that I like at Starbucks! (I'm not a coffee person, and their hot chocolate is too....bland.) Thanks dale for recommending it! =P
Anyway, I forgot to check how late Starbucks is open till. Does anyone know? I'd like to come to the write in on Wed. night but I have class until 8pm. If it is still open past 8 I'd love to see everyone there.

Who has two thumbs and should have known better than to plan a write-in the night of the first Badger Basketball Game?

Yeah, ZombieJoe, all yesterday I was waffling between writing and going to the basketball game; I finally decided on writing because there will be more basketball and heck, the first few games area always against Podunk U anyway. It was a good choice; I'm almost back to where I should be... ugh.

I totally agree about that Starbucks caramel apple drink. It's the only drink I like from there, and I like it so much that I will sometimes go to Starbucks over the many excellent locally owned coffee shops. I then feel guilty for the rest of the day. :P It's definitely open past 8, maybe until 10 or 11?
Sadly, I have the worst class/work schedule and haven't made it to a write-in yet. I hope to meet some of you later in the month!

I'm a student and though I don't live on campus I'd totally be up for a campus-area write in. My personal favorite library is Steenbock, though I tend to haunt Memorial when I want to read in silence. IIRC, waaaaay back in '06 we had some write-ins at Steenbock - those were fun.
I'd be up for meeting just about anywhere in the general campus area, though. Maybe it'll guilt me into actually being productive. xD

I'm a student and would be up for going to libraries or wherever and writing. I'm a bit behind on my writing as of now so i need to catch up!!! Every night except Mondays work for me because that's when I have other plans.
