Hey how are you all doing with your novels? I'm not quite at my goal, but I'm getting there. Just crossed the 9k line.

I'm just over 7k at the moment. My personal goal for this year is at least 2500 words a day, and since I haven't actually done my writing for today yet, I'm doing just fine. ^_^

I'm just below the 5000 I need for today, but I have more time to write today. So I should just make it. I have a feeling I'm going to be making the bare minimum every day. I have to sort everything out in my head as I go, due to no outline.

Hoping to break 4 thousand tonight... Probably won't happen... My novel is turning out to be a semi-fictional auto-biography right now, with an overly offensive "sketch" chapter, and then a chapter following it explaining why I wrote it that way... i don't know if I like it, but my goal for this year is to meet the word count. Next year I'll worry about quality.

I'm basically a day behind, it's great. :P But I take great fun in the fact that my number is 2345 right now. *g*

I'm further along than I thought I'd be, but then my young protagonist just arrived on a Greek island, and that girl is going wild! I suspect she and I will hit a wall pretty soon.
Maybe a stone wall on a twisting mountain road. On a rented motorbike. Behind Nikos, the enigmatic fisherman.

I just passed 10k. I'm a little behind my goal, but I'm chipping away at it little by little.
You all look like you're doing pretty well. Stone walls and all. So just keep at it and we'll all be winners.

Hey, it sounds like a fun novel you're writing! My novel is in a dark place right now. The Depression-era mother in my story is about to die from influenza, and her daughter will blame her younger sister for the death. That's probably why I haven't written a word yet today. Must get through it!

I'm just barely going over the daily minimum. Doesn't help that I have a cold and a history of blanking out mid-chapter. But I guess so far so good.

You're writing and that's what counts on NaNo. I hope you're feeling better soon. I have those blanks in my chapters too. It's time like that that I work on description or something to get my mind going again.

Well I can see we are making great strides in Wisconsin. For me I just crossed 11k. I'm still way behind my personal goal, but overall, it's not too bad at all. The book just keeps coming together more and more every time I start working on it.

I seem to be following you era wise. I'm in the 1930s Dust Bowl years, dealing with survival and triumph as my protagonists come up with a solution to the soil erosion to save their farms and their lives.
My latest shout out -- I just passed 14k. Still behind my personal word goal. We'll see what happens this weekend. I work half a day tomorrow and off on Sunday and Monday. I'm bound to make progress then.

I was really happy to hit 10,000 last night. I've never written so much so fast. I just hope I can keep up the pace for the rest of the month.

I'm behind. I'm hoping to use the weekends as booster days. Boost up my word count, so when homework is too overbearing, I can just relax.

My biggest challenge all along has been my full time job. My daily goal is down, but I'm catching up. I have the rest of today and the next two days off to get a decent count in.
I think you are all doing well with your various schedules or lack thereof to work on your books.
I spend my days/nights as a CSR answering the phone. I found out the definition of a write-in. Writing between calls. I have a page for every hour I put in today, that's written in pen, front and back. So if I can do a write-in at work, I should be able to do one on Monday, as long as I remember.

I just hit 13k, woo hoo! I had hoped to make it to 12k today, but just kept going. I was afraid that I would be really far behind with a three month old at home, but so far (as long as I'm not jinxing myself) it's going really well.
Way to go everyone!

Great job. Go mom! You can do it. I'm getting ready to post my new totals, and then because I'm severely sleep deprived and I have church tomorrow, and though it is early and earlier than I ever go to bed, I'm going to bed. I have tomorrow and Monday, my days off to tackle the word count and make this a best seller on the first draft. Now isn't that an awesome thought.

I'm at about 9500. Technically I'm behind, but considering that I didn't even get started until day 4 (completely forgot! How'd that happen!) I still feel like I'm doing pretty well.
This is my first year, and so far I feel really good about it! I'm liking what I'm writing a lot more than I'd thought I would, too.

I just crossed the 20k mark today. I'm pretty excited, even though I failed to do anything constructive on Friday with my weak 1,018. I plan to write a bunch in the morning, then watch the Packers drub the Buccaneers, then hopefully write enough in the evening to justify me attending a movie Sunday night. I'd like to get halfway before Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm trying not to let being a Wrimo ruin my life!!
I hope that all of you are doing better than you had hoped. Go Pack!

Congrats on the 20k. That is my goal too for today, but with the Pack and grocery shopping it might be another difficult day, but I'm still going to work toward that goal today, and again tomorrow another day off hopefully cross the half-way point. Those are the goals.
Congrats again, as you work hard to not let Wrimo ruin your life. Think of it as money in the bank when your best-seller hits the streets, then all this time spent doing something you love will be worth it.

Packers better win =C. I'm still angry at he who should not be named, especially after last week. >:(

Well that was an atrocious loss! What does that say about the Pack losing to a team that hasn't won a game yet this season. Last week was bad enough, but this makes it worse. Well I'm not going to dwell on it. Haven't written more than a dozen lines today so far, so I'm going to get going on that so I can cross the 20k mark.
For those of you in Green Bay, it doesn't look good for me making that 6:30 time at Barnes and Noble. I'm on the bus, and I would have to turn around and leave almost as soon as I got there in order to get home before the buses stopped running. If there are any other people who have off on Mondays could we do this a lot earlier?

That was an atrocious loss. It's okay though; we're going 12-4.
There was something I had to tell someone, but all of my family would think that I was an idiot for even thinking of these things. I think that this group of people would definitely understand what I am about to say.
My novel is non-fiction. Even though I am not 100% clear on what the dialogue was (it happened two years ago, all of the events in the story actually happened. I changed the names and places of everything else. I live in Wisconsin for instance, but the story is set in Delaware. This story is very personal to me and I like to think that the events depicted changed my life. I had written 20,000+ words prior to today, but didn't notice until an hour ago that there was something lodged underneath my laptop on my desk. I lifted the computer and found a Delaware state quarter. I couldn't believe it. I'm going to keep it, laminate it or do something else with it if I win.[/crazy thoughts]

I like your optimism about the Pack. I would like to believe we can beat the Cowboys next week. I'm a diehard Packers fan, but these two losses in a row were pretty devastating.
I think your crazy thoughts might have some merit to them, or not, but for whatever reason, yes, keep the Delaware quarter. And I really think you'll make it all the way. You're doing great.
I'm not ready to post my totals yet for the night. I'll do that before I go to bed sometime in the a.m. I just passed 17k, so I still have a long way to go. Mine is historical fiction, something I like to write about. I learn a lot of history that way, and it makes it interesting putting a story with it.
Keep up the good work. 20k is impressive.

I'm a little bummed about the Packers losing, but I think it's only because they lost last week. I'm not really a fan of the Packers per se, but I get excited when they win.
And, I'm almost to the halfway mark and reckon I'll hit it tomorrow night. I'm excited to get over the hump!

Got to 30k last night. This is good because the next week I will probably not have any time to write. Hoping I might get a few hundred words in though. As it is, I am exhausted writing so much in one week. Will eagerly be watching as everyone's word count goes up this week and gets closer to half way and can't wait till week three when I can rejoin the writing. Happy Writing!

I started this whole thing late and I've never done it before. Juggling two jobs has made it difficult, but I'm determined to see what I can crank out in a short period of time. I'm just hoping it gets me writing regularly again. I dropped the pen about a year ago b/c of my busy schedule and I've been itching to pick it back up. I've barely begun with my measly 710 words, but I'm so glad to see so many people out there writing it gives me hope! :-)

The important thing is to write. I thought I had a challenge with 1 full time job, but 2 I give you credit for the word count you have. Keep it up. There is nothing like writing to soothe the savage beast or fill up those areas in your life that need attention. Its also a good therapy tool, we can take our aggression out in our writing instead of on real live people. We can write a story that will have everyone running for the tissue box at the end, or hoping that the nightmare they just read wasn't real, and doesn't give them nightmares. We can do anything we want to with our writing, but we won't know what we can accomplish if we don't pick up the pen, or place fingers on keyboard and just start. You've got a good start. Keep writing.
