Taking part in NaNoWriMo, that is! This is my first one and I'm amazed at the things I'm already experiencing and learning on this incredible journey through the month of November - and it's only day four!

I posted on my blog yesterday that this is the first time I've started a novel and had an ending come to me long before I actually get there! I think it's the focus and awareness of a real deadline, it helps the deep insides of my head push ideas to the fore. The entry is at http://spicycauldron.com/2009/11/03/writing-is-magick/

I was knocking ideas about for a month before we started, toying with them all the time, every day - discarding one idea in the shower, coming up with another in the supermarket... Absolute madness, thankfully of a kind that isn't externalised (as far as I know). I don't know, though, whether I will take on the appearance of a total loon by the end of all this... So far I've done okay with my word count, and am happy with how the plot is progressing, but it's SO exhausting. I'm loving it though!

All the best to everyone, I hope we all make the 50k word count and end up with something worth pursuing further. Ever on, to greater glory, and all that, um, jazz!

Another Skiptonite here (Although I am a newbie both in doing Nanowrimo and having moved here only 2 months ago)
Today was hard, didn't hit my 1600 hundred word target for the day, think i'm going to attempt to overshoot this weekend so I have a bit of leeway banked.

Hey, I'm new to NaNoWriMo myself although I've kind of observed it from afar for a number of years. I think it just slowly dawned on me it was the perfect way to impose discipline and a deadline on my writing. I'm one of those who is basically undisciplined when it isn't something that's been commissioned, and I work far better when I have a deadline with articles so I figured the same should - might - be true with a novel.

I'm also new to Skipton, well, not as new as you but still fairly new - only lived here since the very end of December 2007.

I've been overshooting the word count every day because I'm terrified of hitting a day when I can't write, or can't write much, for reasons of being either unavoidably busy or because I've run dry in terms of ideas or willpower or whatever. I may not hit a dry day at all but I want to be able to say, if I do, that it hasn't set me back.
