10K is a big achievement! Celebrate it here by telling us what your 10,000th word is.

(Actually, it's nice to have the whole sentence it's in for context--
especially if it turns out to be one of the lesser stars in the verbal sky, like "a" or "but".)

Well, certainly not the most stellar sentence I've created but it is a complete one. Not sure it helps much with the context...anyway TA-DAH, my 10,000 word--"talked":

Unfortunately she was talked out of this one as well.

I've been writing a glossary along with my novel and adding the words put into that with the rest. I've also been writing my chapters semi-out of order, so It's hard to know where my 10,000 th word came from. Either way, I'm at 10,000 now. By tomorrow, more people will be too, since thats where the 10000 milestone is if you follow the schedule strictly.

At 10,042 words, my 10,000th word is apparently "I".

The paragraph reads

"Being a faery princess, I get to wear a fancy tiara and some people will feel obligated to bow. If I make it through the party without losing my tiara at least three times, it was a relatively dull party.”

Uh ... whoo-hoo!

"Luca's"

' “Not really,” he said, sticking his hands in his pockets and surveying the room. It was a habit of his that I wasn’t really sure whether it was Luca’s or his own. If it was his own, I thought, then he /should/ have no trouble breaking it. '

(I know that the grammar is atrocious, but I'm not deleting anything until December.)

"uncle"

"Ever since one of the servants had let slip that her uncle was intercepting letters addressed to her, she'd been watching for her opportunity to sneak into his room and have a look."

(Took me a while to pinpoint this little bugger.)

10000th word

Where
as in
"Where had this monkey come from?"

This is right after this monkey had caught a "rat by the ear and held it up to the light, inspecting it for color and smell the way you would a glass of wine."

"As I turned to face Isabeau, a gorgeous, although sort of plain looking, in a dark and mysterious sort of way, leaned against the locker next to mine, unlit cigarette hanging out of the side of his mouth, although he didn’t smell like cigarettes. Still, I cringed more than slightly at the idea of the smell of smoke."

My word: couldn't

As used in: Anne knew she couldn't keep torturing herself like this, so after weeks of watching it from the table at the side of her bed she brought the little post card downstairs with her.

(Anne just found out she's adopted and was given a post card sent a long time ago with a phone number to call.)

Okay, it is WAY late in the game for me to just now be getting here, but GUYS. GUYS. THIS IS AWESOME.
I hit 10,000 even at the end of a sentence!
The word was "jabbed".
I'm very excited about this. Hoping to hit 20,000 at the end of a chapter for even more awesomeness. Fingers crossed.

Ugh. I'm epically late getting to my 10,000th word, but a) it was at the end of the sentence and b) it's my first year doing NaNo, so I'm pretty proud.

"well."

"What the HELL are you doing here, Ben?"
He smiled the foolish grin that seemed to suit him so well.

HALLELUJAH! I reached 10,000th before my third hour class!

I can tell she’s been staring at that umbrella and asking herself if it’s raining and, if it is, how the umbrella is completely dry.

My 10K word was "Rat", but that's my main character's name.

I was hoping when I finally reached 10k, it would be a badass sentence. Ah well.
