I happened to type a period at the end of my sentence, and my word count is
exactly 24,999.
I'm going to stop writing for the evening.
If anyone is reading this before I start again in the morning, what should I put
down as my 25,000th word?
Give me something interesting, but not sabotaging, and I'll work it in.
In other words, something like Pandemonium would work, but Ninja or
Obama will totally fail.
It is the beginning of a paragraph. What is the best work you have used to begin

Well, the most interesting paragraph starter I have so far is "Preposterous," followed by "Death" in second place. It's depressing how many of my other paragraphs begin with "I" or "The." I think I'm going to make it a personal goal to start more sentences with interesting words . . .
Right, so, my actual suggestion. How about "Tear-stained"? (NaNo counts hyphenated words as 1, right?)

You are inspiring! Every check of the daily word count graph after I update my stats is an anxious moment for me. These high word counts make me want to write faster and work harder to reach my goal. Too bad I don't show this kind of commitment to learning Perl.

I don't know how Skneal does it, but my secret is that I have 9 hours
more time each day than the rest of you. I basically take the first three weeks
of November off, and just write.

I love that one!
But 'Clandestine' and 'innuendo' turned out to be better fits for what was going
on in the novel. I'm going to keep 'velvet' in mind for word 50,000.
Word 25,000 was Clandestine:
Clandestine surveillance by occasional traffic camera worked in high traffic areas, and autoteller cameras worked when he was near banks, but there were many long periods where all I had were the GPS updates.

Just to add to the growing list of 25000th words:
If I count chapter titles and such, my actual 25000th word appears to be "that." Kind of boring.
If I remove all the headings from consideration, I get "Joqua," which is the name of a criminal convicted of, in his words, “Vandalism. Theft. Kicking a puppy. The usual.”
Though, this is using the Open Office word counter, which seems to knock about a hundred words off my overall word count when compared to Abiword (which refuses to give me a 25000th word; I can apparently get 24999 and 25001 but not 25000...seriously, Abiword?)

em italicizes, strong bolds. Strike produces a
strikeout effect.Cite is sorta weird. On some sites, it sets it in something like Courier New; on others, it's similar to the blockquote tag; on others, it italicizes. NaNo forums' cite tag italicizes, so you can use em or cite for either.
If you can't remember any of them, just play around with them in previews until you find something that works :>

I decided "velvet" was too good a word to let go, so I made sure it was the 25,000th word I typed.
"Velvet pouch for your butts, is it?"
was the comment from one MC to the other.
