Hi I am living in JB and I only learn about this writing novel today. And I would like to give it a try. Am I still eligible? And can I write based in my home?
I hope it is never too late to start... as long as it is 50, 000 words.
Please advise me on this...
KC Chan

It's not too late to start. I know people who have started a week into Nanowrimo and still finished before the deadline. Of course, their average writing speeds are much higher.
The real point really is just to just do it. You won't know how capable you are until you really try.

Hold your mouse over "My NaNoWriMo" at the top of the page.
On the menu, pick "Edit Novel Info"
There will be a space for you to copy-paste the text of your entire novel into, to validate how many words you have written. You can start doing this now to start seeing your wordcount rise.

Yeah I'm using yWriter too. It's pretty nifty especially if you're one of those people who like to plan their stories before they write them. It's easier for me to edit and rearrange my scenes later on too. Saves me a lot of trouble.

Last year I started on the 10th and went on to win. So just keep that fire burning. You'll be fine.
Remember... keep that fire burning ^^ With that you can do anything
I think I can be Anthony Robbins now ^^

Nope, it's not too late. Just keep writing.
After you're done with the novel, I'd suggest taking a breather and letting your novel rest after november, Then in December, you can start editing it for publication. Good luck!

The prize is that YOU finished a 50000 word novel in 30 days.
Yes. You.
Your novel. Your words. Your rules. Your pride. Your success.
So yes, it is as simple as submitting 50000 words.
Oh also, some people go on to have their works published at the end. I know I'm thinking of it if it's a good read.

Well, it's a little more complicated than that.
Those 50,000 words must be joined together with punctuation to form phrases, sentences, paragraphs, scenes, chapters ...
I once had a friend ask me what's to stop her from submitting the same word repeated 50,000 times. I said sure, it's up to her. We're the only people we answer to in NaNoWriMo. It's called the honour system.

Actually it says in the Nanowrimo FAQ that you can't write the same word 50000 times. :)

The FAQ on that might have been added later. My friend said what she said in 2004 or 2005.
