Hi All!

Thrusday night Brea Write-In. (5:30 to whenever) is at Starbucks on Imperial Highway and Brea Boulevard.

I checked it out. It's a mid-sized store, but they have several differet areas where we can congregate, plenty of outlets and of course yummy treats and coffee.

The easiest access is to go into the Gateway Center off of Imperial Highway. The Starbucks is right on the corner of Imperial Highway and Brea Boulevard next to Corner Bakery.

Hope to see you all there!

Happy Writing!

I'm still coming!! Anyone else? I'll be near the coffee shop area, unless someone has a better idea.

I should be there, depending on what time I get out of work. I'll look for you, Joi.

I will try to make it earlier (but I'm carpooling today so I won't be there at 5:30 for sure). Most likely, though, I'll end up there around 7 or 7:30. I don't know how long I can go without plugging into an outlet, however, so let's see! :) Anyone else planning to try to to stay later (or come later) than 7-ish??

A couple weeks ago I watched a young high schooler realize she had no juice so she called her mother to have mom bring her the computer cord. Mom did, mom was thanked, then the girl went in search of an outlet. As has been said before about Brea, no outlets.

However it is my favorite local borders... We hold our writers group there on First Saturdays. Unfortunately I am a big 24" iMac kind of Wrimoer so I won't be attending. These beasts aren't very portable nor do they have a battery. If I can plug for those interested in Writers Groups, let me know if anyone would like to join one out of Borders there.

I think I may stop on by since I got out of class and work early, am bored and don't really want to go home just yet. The only thing is that I am the proud owner of two bricks that were formerly functioning laptops and since I don't like to drag my desktop around since it draws funny looks when you have are walking around with a generator strapped on to your back I am going old school and writing on actual paper with an actual pen and not one of those new fangeled digital pens that kids are starting to use.

I'm there right now. I don't recognize any NaNoers, but in case anyone arrives who's not been to the other write-ins, I'm the large guy with grey hair and wearing a black The Exorcist t-shirt, typing on a MacBook Pro 17". I have a 6-top table at the front edge of the place.

We've all left now. Seven people at its height. The killer is the lack of power. Got to see some new writers, though!

I hit my daily total with ease, but I've not been all that happy with today's output; it feels uninspired, blah. Perhaps just the scenes were that. I'm going to be trying to get one or two more scenes in tonight, and one of them is rather racier, so that might prove inspiring. *shrugs* We'll see.

I hope so! I was trying to work out which one you were and then I read your story synopsis and went "Ah!". I remember my fellow nanites' plots much better than names.

Hey All!

Will the Brea Borders work okay if I bring a power strip with me, or is there absoultely no place to plug in there?

If you want, we can entertain options for a different meeting place. There is a Panera Bread on Chapman and State College, but I haven't been inside before, so don't know if the set up is any good. Lately, it looks like the Starbucks at that same intersection has been pretty busy.

Any ideas or suggestions?

No, there was nowhere to plug one in.

Is the Starbucks a short block west of State College on Imperial still there, the one that used to be a Diedrich's? I seem to remember it not being too tiny.

There is one.

I think it's on the corner of Brea Blvd and Imperial Highway, but I don't remember for sure. I'll check it out on Monday, since I drive by there every day. It sounds like a good alternative. (Gives me a good excuse to treat myself to a morning cup of frothy coffee too!)

Thanks for thinking of it!

That's not the one I was thinking of, but apparently according to the online store locator, the one I'm thinking of is gone, anyway, and yes, there's one at Brea & Imperial which is still there. Worth checking it out! Looks like it's on the south-west corner of the intersection, by the map.

Do post if you change to somewhere with power, I would love to meet some fellow Nano peeps but my laptop is lucky to get an hour of juice not plugged in (considering he's turning 6 this year I think an hour is quite commendable to be honest).

Thanks! :D

Isn't there a community center off of Birch and that little street next to the mall? I don't know the hours but I think it may be okay for NaNoers to work away there, but once again I am not from that immediate area so not too sure, anyone else know? That's the little street on the west side of the mall not State College.

Panera? Yeah, there's one, but no plugs that I've been able to find. Not sure about Starbucks. Either one would work for me, as I live literally two blocks from there.

We were thinking the Starbucks there, but the Panera should probably be checked out. My experience with Panera is that there are some plugs, but only a small number.

The Panera does have plugs yes, but they're always taken by students. Like ALWAYS. You'll be lucky to be able to grab one, much less multiple ones. It's still a nice environment with good food, though.

I have one of those octopus looking powerstrips so as long as we could get one plug I bet we could make it work.
