Every year the Edmowrimos surprise us! So many of you finish and so many finish so early, it's incredible!

Come in here to proclaim your victory and show off you pretty green or purple bar.

(Please note: The hyper-speed people are not our standard. They are the exception (which is the root of the word exceptional).)

My hat does off to you .Doc, first at 50K I think? I'm still at 43,772. To get a purple bar I believe you have to validate your novel and that won't happen for another couple of weeks I think. But yes, sit back, relax, bask in your glory, because you definitely earned it. Hopefully I'll be there soon. Congratulations!

Congrats Jeyradan of Virtual Clan! I think you're the only one in that clan that's made it to 50K so far.

w00!

I'm going to flesh out and work on it a bit, but I honestly think this one's just going to be a short novel - I can't add much more without just making it tiresome.

By the way: sexy word count there, Arnold! Go go go!

Congratulations to all of you who have reached 50K so far! There, that covers anyone I might have missed.

As for my word count, it's scaring me. I can't believe I've written that much. Must keep writing, must keep writing.

*does victory dance* This has been my hardest nano by far. All throughout week 2 I was pretty sure that this might be the first year I wouldn't finish. *breathes sigh of relief* I've still got 10-20k worth of novel left though.

In past years I've done most of my writing on weekdays and take weekends off -- which goes against the norm, I realize. This year my goal was to write 1,700 words a day and cross the finish on or about the end of the month. I was doing OK to begin with but by the midway point (Nov. 15) I was only at 16k. Then to make matters worse, I took the next 4 days off!

I am pleased to report that I caught up and then some from Nov. 20-24 and I just crossed the 50k plateau!!! My novel really sucsk, but I'm not too concerned. I'm more of a short story writer anyway, so I'll probably edit it right down to a couple of salvageable 3,000-word short stories.

Congrats to those who finished early! For those falling behind, all it takes is a couple good days of intense writing and you're back on track. Good luck the rest of the way to everybody.
