Hey, everybody!
I hope that your word count is keeping in step with the goals. I went to the Write-in at Borders tonight, and actually got some work done.
But Kevin and I were wondering if there was anyone out there that in or close to Sandoval County that would like to get together. the meetings that are at Borders, or at UNM are actually a long way from our neighborhood. Tonight, even with no traffic, we spent 45 minutes coming home.
We would be willing to meet somewhere up here. We really like writing at the Bernalillo Flying Star, but there's also the Barnes and Nobel near Cottonwood Mall.
What do you say?

I could attend a write-in at the Cottonwood Mall, or even better at one of the Flying Star/ Satellites near 528 and Corrales Road. There's also a near Flying Star on Rio Grande just north of Griegos. I live in the North valley, and agree that meetings near UNM or on the east side of town are kinda far for me to travel, especially at night. I've actually never gone to a write-in and have no idea if they are helpful or not, but I would be game to meet up for one and find out.
I'm one of those strange people who usually writes at home, sitting at their desk. If you decide to try for a west side meeting, I will definitely make an attempt to attend.

I've kind of got the best of both worlds, because I go to UNM during the day, so I am over there, then I come home to the West Side at night and on weekends. Too bad I haven't made any write-ins yet...
The Borders in the Cottonwood Crossing shopping center has a lot of tables, and even some comfy couches, the only problem being that I've never seen any outlets... and you have to walk all the way back through Borders to get to said tables at the Seattle's Best Coffee there. The Barnes and Noble in the same shopping center as outside access to that Starbucks, a ton of tables, but is also much louder and really has no outlets that I've ever been able to locate.
If it is a small write-in, I'd say the Satellite Coffee on Alameda and Corrales Rd. It is somewhat busy, but the back room with outlets and comfy couches is usually free, and I write there all the time. They are really cool there. The Flying Star right across the street is ALWAYS swamped, so that's totally out of the question. They get pissed off if you take too long to eat there, since they are so high volume. T_T
But I am totally down for write-ins. My weekends just got freed up, and I may be able to do something on Fridays, not sure yet, since I am usually over at UNM then.
Any write-ins on this side of town, I'd totally be down, especially since I work right over in the Cottonwood Mall, so it's right there.

Yes please for write-ins on the West Side. I live in Corrales and have no car of my own, so getting people to drive me around is a lot easier when it's closer to home.
Satellite is pretty swamped most of the time, but as long as we had a smaller write-in, it'd be cool. If not, maybe the Rio Rancho or Corrales Library? I volunteer at the Corrales library, and I think that as long as one of us checked out some books, they'd be happy to let us write there, maybe in the teen room or the conference room in the back.
I don't know about the RR library, but it's a possibility.
What do you think?

Last year a small group of us met at the Bernalillo Flying Star. I live in Placitas, so it's an ideal location for me. I was thinking about going there early next week, during the day -- I don't know if that timing would work for anyone else. Before I go, I can post on this thread, *just in case* anyone else is available and would like to join me. Or let me know, tyrca, when you're going to be there, if you'd like some company.

Okay, since there's interest, Kevin and I will be at the Satellite Coffee on Alameda tomorrow (Saturday) and aiming at 5:30 or 6:00. We are arriving early, so you can come earlier too. Then we can talk about places and schedules for next week. I'm thinking right now about Monday and Wednesday, and we can talk about sites.
Keep the writing, and I'd love to see you there.

I'm late to this thread but I live on the West Side and will totally throw my support behind meeting at Satellite's, Flying Star or wherever over here.

My twins and I joined up NaNoWriMo, and we're interested in meeting at the Borders near Cottonwood Mall for a write-in at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10. We live in Rio Rancho.

We're late to this, but we are up for meeting at any of those locations. Just name the date and time and we'll bring our laptops and notebooks!

Oh, the reason I like Borders or Barnes and Noble is because if you get stuck, you can look up and see books on the shelves. Sometimes I grab a book and capture a line or an image to use as a prompt in my writing.

I wish I could make it, only I have my screenwriting class at 6pm on Tuesdays, so I'll be at UNM.
So, if anyone wants to do something on next Sunday, the 15th, I will no doubt be on the West Side, probably in the Satellite Coffee on Alameda and Coors.

Sorry it took me so long to get back. I will probably be over there at 1 or 2 regardless of if there is a write in or not, and I will be writing. I've got some serious catching up to do. >.>
So, if anyone wants to come, unless the back room is taken, that's where I'll be holed up with a coffee and my laptop.
