Is it normal for me to be jumping ahead to scenes I already have planned just to keep my word count rising? I now have these chunks of scenes that just randomly end and then new scenes that begin in the middle. I'm refusing to let myself stop typing, but it's SO different than my normal method of refusing to move on unless it's totally linear.
Yikes.

Nah, go for it. Remember. November is for writing. You have plenty other months in the year to edit (or write well).
Jump around as you see fit! If it makes it easier, just created a separate document that has those non-linear scenes, so you have them typed out and a part of your word count, but you don't have to disrupt your flow if you don't want to.
Write on!

Heh...that's the way I always write. :) If I hit a block on some scene, and spend more than 30 seconds sitting there stumped by it, I just jump to another scene. It refreshes your imagination and keeps you from falling asleep. You can always come back later and finish it.

I've jumped forward entire sections before, skipped all the way to the ending epilogue and written that because that's what I was feeling at the time. Sometimes, writing the ending will help you figure out the middle, if you're stuck on it. And, you can always change the ending if you think of something better in the middle.
Write whatever part is on your mind the most. November is for Writing it! December is for making it make sense.

PSI, that's ALL I'm doing. Jumping from scene to scene and griping over the non-existent in betweens. Don't worry, we'll go back and bridge those later... hopefully. ;)

I have my nanowrimo in a google doc, because I can write in it from anywhere, and it has a word count feature...
And I certainly jump ahead scenes. I just put them at the end, and put like ten blank spaces between that and the rest of my text... So it's there, but I'm not looking at it when I type.
Then when I'm ready to include it, it's right there, I can just cut it and paste it wherever I want.

I write in a linear mode as well.
I'd love to jump around, but if I do I'm certain to lose focus on what's happening and I doubt I'll ever be able to realign the flow properly, so I sit back, sip coffee, go for a cigarette, eat something, whatever, and am usually able to get back to it in 10 minutes or so.
But (to the OP), write however you can. This is NaNoWriMo, after all, and afaik the project is only about getting words down. So Rock it out!
