My friend Charles posted a link to a bundle of cool applications at MacHeist. Even cooler? They're FREE FOR THE NEXT 5 DAYS.

One of them is particularly useful to me right now, it's called "WriteRoom." It's a barebones text editor that blacks out your screen, leaving nothing but the green glowy words of your novel to ponder. It's been pretty crucial so far, because my laptop is full of distractions and this has been a GREAT way to block them all out. So head on over to their site and D/L them before they cost over a hundred dollars again!

I just got this bundle yesterday, and have been using Write Room in combination with NeoOffice since. And if enough people sign up for the bundle, MarinerWrite (a Mac word processing program) gets unlocked too (free), so go ahead and give the bundle a try.

No prob! It seriously helped my wordcount so far being able to black out the rest of the screen. The native word counter is a little wonky (between Microsoft Word, WriteRoom, and the WriMo word counter, i have like 3 different word counts).

I downloaded all these yesterday, but haven't installed them yet. I love MacHeist...Guess it's the packrat in me, because I get all these cool free or cheap apps, then never use them. I use Scrivener for writing, so most of these probably won't ever see the light of day, but who knows? I won't check them out till December though. dont' want to take time away from writing to play with new apps. :)
