Woohoo! After a rather slow and sporadic start, 10000 is in the rear view mirror, and it is barely 9 a.m.

Still some catching up to do, but one big milestone out of the way.

If i can get a real plot to emerge and actually go somewhere, 15000 by the end of the day might just be a possibility.

Great job, minervasowl!

I woke up early today to work on my novel. I'm now past the 15k mark! When I signed up for the 10k weekend challenge, I really did not think that I'd have the focus to do it, but I really pushed myself to do my best and now it looks like I'll make it! Fingers crossed. 5,098 to go before midnight. I'm not used to writing that much in one day, but lately I've been accomplishing more than usual! NaNo is such a great way to do more than you ever knew you could.

79% of the month is completed. 80% of my novel is completed.
I have ingested about 6 GRAMS(!) & 357.8 mg of caffeine.
I have ingested about 15 alcoholic beverages.

Wow, I'm behind again. Tomorrow and Tuesday are my catchup days now. Monday should be really good, since the husband is going to be out of town for the night. No need to make dinner, chat, just write, write, write! I managed to cram in 3400 words yesterday amidst several distractions and a really long phone call from a girlfriend.

Oh, I'm knew to this BTW, just thought it was time I said hi. ^_^

Today's goal is at least Day 9's quota, but if I get on a roll at the write-in tonight and the BNG staffers don't get to kicking us out, I'll try for more. I'm nearing the part in my plot without significant planning, which also happens to be the bulk of it. Excellent planner, I am not. Still, if I can get behind my MC and push him up hills maybe he'll make it easy on me. Time to pull out the ol' mid-life crisis.

Since you only need to write 1677 or so words per day, why write 5000?

Folks best watch their sugar, caffien an alcohol consumption,. Nanowrimo isn't supposed to kill you!

We need to write everyday, not all day. Keep it fun.

I cannot believe that I pushed out 10k yesterday. I mean, I honestly can't believe it. Where did it all come from? Oh, I know a lot of it is contradictory and all of it is drivel, but still, that's a lot of typing. And I still found time to rake leaves and have dinner with my son and his lady. Goal for today is 15K and 3-4 hours on the trail. I need some woods time...

For me, . HAVING to write 10k is not fun. Writing 10k for fun IS fun.

True, all things are best in moderation, whether it's caffeine, staying up late, or anything else. I also agree that NaNo should be fun, and not a punishment of any kind. It should be a challenge, though!

I do disagree with you that it's detrimental to write more (even much more) than 1,667 words a day. I know that personally, if I did that I would be panicking by the end of the month. I also wouldn't be challenging myself very much.

Furthermore, there will be days when I write less than 1,667 (I've had at least two days like that so far this month, including one where I couldn't write at all due to time constrictions) so extra padding is a good thing for me.

To each her own! Everyone should set their own individual goals this month and do what makes them feel comfortable and accomplished.

That's exactly how I feel! If this was an assignment (for school or something,) I would have an extremely rough time completing it, if I completed it at all. But for NaNo I'm setting my own personal goals, and it's SO much fun.

Agreed. Set a reasonable goal. Mine is 2000-2500 words a day. If I get more, great. If I get less, I try not to beat myself up about it. Doing a bit more than the 1667 will give me a few days grace for the end of the month when I know there will be days I can't write for 3-4 hours. But I have other things going on daily as well, so I try not to over extend myself anywhere.

Slow and steady wins the race! (For most. You marathoners, out there- go for it!!) Whatever gets you to 50K.

Now that my laptop's up and running, I'm going crazy trying to catch up. Yesterday I was writing my NaNo novel in a notebook during the half time of a football game in the press box of the stadium. I should have my first 4,000 words back tomorrow afternoon when I get all of my data off my old hard drive (so many issues!). For now I'm just trying to skip ahead. I'll worry about putting a bridge between my first few thousand words and the newer stuff once I get my starting scene back.

Right now I'm almost half way to the daily goal of 13,333 words (I'm currently at 6,426 words). I've written a bit over 2,000 words this morning. I have three papers that I'd like to get written today, I have a graphic novel due in about a week, and I need to read Antigone for my World Lit. class tomorrow . . . but DAMMIT, I WILL GET TO 13,333 WORDS TODAY.

I'm promising myself. Right now. I will reach the daily goal.

If I don't . . . nope- I'm not even going to think about consequences. I'm just going to do it. ;)

No school on Wednesday- that should help me get the word count up.

Stick with it, my fellow NH NaNo writers!

Good job everyone! Sorry I didn't get to start the threads the past two mornings - yesterday I was driving to Maine (and back) for my brother's football game and this morning I was recovering. :) I didn't get to write at all yesterday because I fell asleep as soon as I got home from Maine.

Now I'm at the Nashua write-in and hoping to get at least 2000 words done today.

Why not? Yeah 1667 a day is all you need to hit 50k, but some of us have higher goals in mind, like 75k or 100k. Some of us are just trying to see how much we can do in a month. I know there are going to be some days when nothing will get written at all in a day, like Wednesday and Friday for me. That means I need to play catch-up on other days. As long as we're having fun, let us do our thing.

Not the best day- only 1782 words in, but I knew it was going to be tough today. Spent all day long stuffing 5 different kinds of sausage with hubby and that took the majority of my writing time. But I got over the 1667, and that keeps me a bit ahead of the curve, so I'm happy. And the story is progressing as well, which is a bonus! Although, apparently one of my characters has something to hide and I have no idea what it is!! Tho I'm sure she will tell me, eventually. I hope...

Anyway, at 16, 361 right now!

Onward to 50K!

My goal for today is to try to end at 25k, I'm a little past 22k now so it's still do-able. Problem is I'm stuck at where to take my story.

I've hit a minor climax and I still have the major climax for the end but I need scenes to carry me through to the end. I just finished killing off a major character which helped a bit, the whole death and everything that went along with it added almost 9k words (it was a very drawn out death).

Well hopefully playing around on the internet will help me come up with a few ideas to fill the next 20k words before I get to the final climax.

After spending a lot of time wondering whether a real plot might show up and whether my characters are actually interesting, the ideas are finally really starting to surface. Right now I am just trying to pin them and their variations all down before any of them have a chance to run away and be forgotten. Then I can go back and pick up the thread and see which of the ideas actually fit into the story.

I think that it is going to be fun ... and I am starting to think that 50K words by the witching hour really is possible for me to achieve.

{Does small dance of anticipatory joy.}

15k solidly in the rear view, thanks to a solid write-in hosted by yellville. (And we got to meet for the first time since becoming internet friends ages ago!) Reaching major plot point number one, ready to dial into it for a bit. Then, the big swing that gets us to the major climax and so on. Feeling pretty good.

Well, I didn't hit my goal for the night and I'm beat. Came really close though little over 1k away from the 25k I was hoping to get to.

I came out of my funk and was able to spin the plot enough that I think I've got a good 10k worth of words before I run dry again, I'm sure my finally climax will take up 5k to 10k worth so that leaves me having to come up with one more major plot point to eat up the last 10k pages. I see it totally do-able.

Oh and I forgot to mention in my earlier post, it was nice meeting those of you who showed up in Nashua. While I'm very bad with names, I at least remember Kat (and Rich I already knew). My apologies to the other three ladies I meet for not being able to recall theirs.

I made my weekend goal!

I have no lack of inspiration when it comes to this novel. For every passage I write, ideas for three more seem to pop into my head! It's been a lot of fun.
