I'll be writing, too, but I think it's better for me if I practice my bass first. That way I get it done. So I'll be back after an hour. Are we giving each other head to head challenges or something?

THE VIRTUAL WRITE-IN HAS BEGUN!
So, the basic question has been: How is this going to go?
Want to word war with someone? Go for it.
Want to chat about your story? Let's hear it.
Want to talk smack to each other? Just keep it friendly.
Basically just use the thread as you would talking to everyone at a write-in.
And again, poor writerly-type person has no money for bail. Just sayin'.

Will write for... just about anything. Money, food, love...

I'm here, I'm writing attempting not to get sucked into the virtual world, except here. My character just went off on the people she is staying with (long story *snort* 41k to be exact) Anyway she is way more mouthy than I had anticipated.
You keep bringing up bail money, Gracie, is there something you need to talk about (grin)? We could snag the couch and chairs at BAM this weekend and you could talk through it if necessary. (Luv ya!) - ducking now.

Hi everyone. I'm here. Trying to add to my word count since my presence and paltry count seemed to have knocked our ranking from 52 to 97. I'll try to make up for it.

I am officially here with my ghettofied laptop setup!
Gracie always talks about bail money b/c of the company she keeps....she won't need it for me b/c I'll never be caught! Mwa-ha-ha-ha!!!!
Anyway, it's your other co-ML checking in for a few hours of writing mayhem!

So who is already in their pjs? I'm still dressed, wore more than sweats today as I had to go buy gifts for hubby's birthday, which is Friday. The boys are watching Voyager and I'm hiding in the bedroom.

I think mine is coming off like an X-men rip-off, but I'm enjoying it! I've got werewolves and kinetic powers (fire, water, electricity, etc), and a family trying to fit in with society. I've also got a side plot of my main character (a werewolf) adopting and getting remarried.

At this point I'm not sure anymore. I seem to be repeating the same thing over and over. I'm trying to write something more action oriented but aside from a few missing fingers and blowing up two characters it seems to have turned into a love story. How did that happen? I don't write romance.
My MC, Callia, is at a crossroads trying to decide if she wants to continue with the life she felt she wanted or was she simply living out someone else's convictions.

I am not in my pj's but that sounds like a good idea...a good few minutes of procrastination!
As for what I'm writing, it's a short story that I'm trying to finish. It's a semi-autobiographical short story about a girland her boyfriend (technically took real events and used poetic license). It's part of a short story collection that I've been writing for a while. I have a ton of stories to write in the series with the same characters. This particular short takes place in a community theater.

tmgray, are you going to try publishing those stories once you finish the series?
59,772 / 50,000
Nov 17, 2009 - 18 20
not planning to publish them anywhere, but I might get them bound up special for a few people. The only problem is they're not one set. The fall into at least five sets at this point. I could always use lulu.com....but I'd have to use a pen name.

Do you remember the one writer from Ontario: Elmsdale from last year? They beat us out at average word count because they are one person. Who wants to go to Canada and recruit more writers from Ontario? Throw his word count average off big time.

That should totally be our new goal from Dec until next NaNo...we'll spread the word throughout Canada about NaNoWriMo! If you do something good for bad reasons, is it a good or bad deed? Where does the karmic potential lie?

Something REALLY bad to do would be make a few fake profiles for his region and screw up the wordcount by posting 2 words.

Good thing there aren't Nano police because Gracie couldn't bail you out for that one.
I know some Canadians online, but I don't have a clue where Elmsdale is. should look that up. Darn, if it were USA we could mail Nano flyers to random addresses from the white pages.

He'll get what's coming to him. One day, he'll go home to find that Elmsdale was wiped out by a meteor and in the distance he'll hear me laughing because I know that meteors only happen to bad people.

I'm going to call it quits for tonight. I'm at a stopping point and I need to read over my journal before I can write the next chapter so it makes sense to stop writing here.

Sounds like a fitting ending to our competition, either that or we get zombies to take him out. Do zombies like the cold?

You can't arrest someone for thinking about something...heck, if you could, we'd all be in jail. Besides, I'm not condoning the action. As ML, I can't anyway! I like Troll's meteor idea. We can all go there and roast marshmallows or something when it hits! It'd be a great NaNo party!!

Whoo-hoo! Sounds like a plan. If there are zombies when we go, well, that'll just be a bonus for some (okay, maybe just Troll). I prefer my meteor cookouts sans the living dead!

I'll have to add sudden meteor strikes into the zombie plan. I have to be prepared to deal with anything when the dead begin to rise.
And to answer your question, No, zombies do not like the cold. Their metabolism is much lower than that of a living person and so they can't maintain a constant temperature. They become quite sluggish in colder climates, which is very helpful for the living. You can read about it World War Z. It's all there.

Which would explain why I never ran into zombies in the midwest. It's too freakin' cold.

I'm getting offline for the night. I'm apparently not being very productive right now and, quite frankly, I'm a bit tired! Hope everyone else has a great word-filled night! Everyone's doing so well! Julie, Paula...I'll see you on the other side of the 50k line very soon! I'll be the one cheering and holding out cups of....ummm...gatorade? Just trust me and drink the kool-aid! Keep up the good work, Troll and Gracie! We'll see you on the other side of that line yet!

Goodnight. I'm about to sign off myself. I've reached my goal of 43k for the night. Happy writing to all. May you dream of plot twists, long descriptive narrations, and may the words rise to greet you on the morrow.
