Romane, die bei uns zwischen dem 25. Und 30. November zur Verifizierung und zum Gewinnen hochgeladen werden, werden von einem Computer gezählt und dann automatisch gelöscht. Wir lesen sie nicht und speichern auch keine der Romane, die hochgeladen werden. NaNoWriMo Autoren behalten alle Rechte an dem, was sie während dieser Aktion schreiben.
Bei NaNoWriMo sind schon viele Romane geschrieben worden. Hier die Statistik:
1999: 21 Teilnehmer und sechs Gewinner
2000: 140 Teilnehmer und 29 Gewinner
2001: 5.000 Teilnehmer und mehr als 700 Gewinner
2002: 13.500 Teilnehmer und circa 2,100 Gewinner
2003: 25.500 Teilnehmer und etwa 3.500 Gewinner
2004: 42.000 Teilnehmer und fast 6.000 Gewinner

2007: 101.510 Teilnehmer und 15.333 Gewinner
