Okay, no. I don't have my towel.

What I do have is a re-drawn-on-every-day sharpie "don't panic" inscribed on the inside of my left arm where I read it and try not to lose my mind.

What I also have is a thirty-thousand word deficit to overcome in six days. Less than six days.

And a horrible little voice in my head mocking me for not concentrating two weeks ago when I could've built up cushion for myself.

And further: a plot. A beautiful inspiring plot that continues to unfold itself about thirty pages ahead of time and strolled into my head almost in its entirety. Except for the end of the middle bit. No idea about that part.

So, what I need...

I need help. I need support. I need to cheer on my other less-than 30k - or 25k or 15k - wrimos. I need love from my rhinos!!!

And this concludes my plea for help.

I am going to get rid of the guilt monkeys on my back by cleaning house when I hit my 50K - I'm aiming to do so by tomorrow.

I've neglected the fish tank, our bathroom and bedroom, going to rearrange the furniture in our dining and living room and move my computer back from our bedroom to the living room.

But as a reward for my 50K? I think I'm going to get me a brand new bowling ball.

What?

I'm in a league...

Lone writer in McKinney

Hey Folks,
Just can't bring myself to drive 45 minutes ...or so....to write-ins in Dallas and Colleyville, etc. Guess I will keep writing at my kitchen table and in the coffee shops in McKinney.
I love the "buddy-system" boost of the write-ins but hate driving a long ways for it. After I spend several hours writing I have to drive an hour to get home, and it just wears me out.
If anyone ever wants to come hang out in McKinney, I have lots of nice hang-outs here: Coffee 'n Cream, Saxbys, La Misha's, Churchills, Starbucks.

I'm one of the few people who do not take off work during holidays. Because of that, I get the enjoyment of some peace and quiet with quite a lot of co-workers (and most importantly, bosses!) taking off during the week of Thanksgiving.

So not only do I get a lot of my backlog work done, I get to sneak in some writing!!

And I can't post this on Facebook because I have a few coworkers as friends. :p

NaNo All Year Writing Group

Okay guys, I'm going to start this thing up now, so we can be prepared for when November is over. I want to start by letting everyone know that this is going to be a writing group (similar to write-ins but much less intense!) and NOT a critique group (Collyville has a group for editing stuff). What I wanted when I suggested we start this up is pretty simple. I wanted to meet a couple times a month and encourage each other to keep on writing even after November is over. I am terrible at staying on a writing regimen when I don't have a deadline or at least someone to give me a poke and check my progress now and again. That is where this idea originated.

As more people indicated their interest, my ideas developed a little bit further. With so many people, I would like to make meetings available to everyone without making anyone have to drive forever. I would like to set up every other meeting to be in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington, that way everyone gets a chance to attend a meeting about once a month or so if they can't travel. We are sharing a google-group with the Collyville Critique and everyone is obviously free to join in on both events. If enough people are uncomfortable using google-groups, I will send out an email before each meeting to let everyone know what's been decided for that meeting.

I have a lot of ideas, but I really would rather this thing run by committee. So I'm going to toss out my ideas and perhaps we can solidify them at the TGIO or first meeting. I plan on running about 30 minutes of word wars during each meeting (two 15 minute, or three 10 minute) and WITH HELP we will be able to have prizes for those word wars. I am currently unemployed, so anything anyone can donate would be awesome! I would love it if we could have people bring snacks each week (perhaps on a rotating system?) as well. If everyone is up for it, I would also like to run some kind of writing exercise each week. I also think it would be nice to keep track of everyone's personal goals (either monthly or yearly) and possibly set up partners to check on each others progress now and again or something similar. Grace suggested storytime, where everyone can volunteer to pick one page of their current work in progress and read it aloud to the group. All of this is up for debate/vote, because as I said I would rather run by committee. (This email is going up in the google-groups where everyone can post their responses to it and help solidify things!)

Also, I'm going to need a couple of people who would be willing to substitute heading up meetings in case I end up sick or something.

Denton Parents Meetup/Write-in?

Hello all! I am a mommy of a little nearly three year old boy and with both my husband and I working it makes it very hard to make it to write-ins. Tuesday is the only day we both have off so that I can leave the house.

I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in meeting up for a little write in on Tuesday. I think it would be awesome to get out, but still have the kids. So I was thinking we could meet up at a place that is child friendly. Our thought was Chick-Fil-A. Their small play area is very easily monitored since it only has one door, on Tuesdays kids eat free, and we can sit there for a few hours and no one would say anything.

My husband would be there, a non-Nanoer, so any other spouses that don't write are free to join. We would just love to get out and I would love to get some last minute writing done.

What does everyone think?

I made my story at the beginning of November. Very and completely unaware of this Nanowrimo. Well, I decided to finally look up what the names of a few of my characters mean. Cassandra, the princess, means Prophet. In the beginning of the book, I wrote the prophecy for the kingdoms. It was that of a beautiful young woman who was raised and knew all of the forms of all of the animals. That she was a force to be reckoned with. That she would be a prophet as well as the person to make this prophecy come true. Finding out that her name does mean prophet helps me to make more pages in my book, but I still have so far to go. I have gotten to the part where her brother puts forth the challenge for the throne. He has been chased outside with the rest of his followers. If anyone who could help with the fight against them, just a little bit, it would help to put even more pages in my book. Thank you.

I can't come up with a way for my main character's brother to come in. He is supposed to be fighting for the crown from her, and I want to do it during her ceremony, but during the end, when she has become full queen, has set the truce with the wolves, and has revealed her mate. If you want, I can reply to your post with how far I have gotten, but I can't get into my word thing right now. My aunt should have it working within about 10 minutes. Please help? I am almost done, but I am having serious writers block.

PLANO Friday Night Write-In

Hey, guys! I am so far behind on my word count it hurts. BUT I am committed to making it up. I know there's a need for write-ins in Plano. I get off Friday at 4 and work at Park/Preston. I'd love to go to a write-in. I planned one at Borders but it's just not comfortable and there's only one plug. I really have no idea what else is in the area. There's a Panera at Park and Preston, but they close at 8 which seems insanely early to me. Would anyone be up for a Plano Friday night write-in? Does anyone have any suggestions on where to hold it? Let me know!

Totally not related to this year's nano...

... but the other night I didn't have any internet access at home, so I was just piddling around with the files on my computer. I was in my NaNoWriMo '06 folder and I found a file called "ending.doc." Curious, I opened it up, and well, apparently just after the end of my first NaNo in 2006, I'd typed up the ending of the novel I had been working on.

Ironically, over the last three years I've slowly been working on finishing this novel. Well, I'd pretty much written up to the ending of my novel. When I read ending.doc, I realized that where I had left off in the novel and where this document picked up was almost a perfect match. It was seamless, actually. Where this newly discovered document picked up is where I had left off in the main novel document.

So... in other words.... I have finished my very first novel.

Its been a day or so since I plugged in the end of the novel to the main document, but I'm still kind of in this state of shock. I really cannot believe I did it. All I really need to do now is write the epilogue and then start editing at least the first several chapters.... and... the process of looking for a *gulps* publisher.
