Brief Author Bio: It started with Sunshine Gazette and Pizza Cat Magazine. (If you know what Pizza Cats are, I love you.) The former was a newsletter for family members. The latter was about the pretend world that my cousin, sister, and I roleplayed in as little kids. In third grade, I wrote my first book. I only remember that it involved dalmatians. My classmate Sherry-Lee and I co-wrote and co-illustrated it. We became classroom celebrities. During middle school, I got heavily into fan fiction and wrote about other people's characters and worlds. Once I started high school and then college, however, I started taking my writing more seriously and began writing novels and short stories with my own characters in my own worlds. I plan on finishing writing Secondhand Mom by the end of the month, and am open to any inquiries regarding publication. (I've gotta try, right?) I have had two short stories published in my college literary magazine, Fresh Ink (2007, 2008), and had a poem published in the Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans (2002). I can be contacted by email at elizawhat@gmail.com, and I write a personal blog at http://perpetualsmile.net. Happy noveling! |

Synopsis: Secondhand Mom
Twenty-three year old Gigi Ballard tried to move on with her life after giving up her son, Owen, for adoption. When she meets him for the first time three years later, she can't stop thinking about him and the life they could have together. She decides that she wants him back, but every lawyer she meets with tells her the same thing: it's not possible. Can she accept this reality and move on with her life, or will she fall victim to her past?
