By the time I reached school, the cheese toast in my stomach had settled, the music's got me going, and my morning blues have evaporated like an arctic pond in global warming, and I'm pumped and feeling alive at the U of A as I pulled in and got out, dashing over to my classes.
You know, it wasn't always like this for me; I used to be a grade A slacker. Not really cutting classes, per se, but doing minimal amounts of work, if any at all. I'm actually excited to be in school at this point, getting a second chance to finish a degree and do something good with my life; my slacker ethics right out of high school doomed me to fail at my first attempt at University. Now I have my head on-track for finishing. Only a year more to go and I'll be finished and back in the work force, at the tender age of 28. Heh, better late than never to get an education.
Third year English classes are interesting, as are all the teaching courses. I really gained an appreciation for school after 4 years of being in the workforce; learning is much easier than doing.
So I bounced from class to class through the day, up and down and all around campus before hopping into Red 5 and heading back home. Back to work on my novels; yes, novels in plural. As in more than one. Bloody ideas, blessed idea, popping into my head all the time and needing to be written, but never fully finishing my train of thought. Too many distractions and dead-end tales; suppose I should finish one off, some day, but sometimes I just can't do it. More like all the times, heh. Of course, good 'ol NaNoWriMo in November helps to kick me in the ass, but there's always that little bit of doubt, like Darth Vader on your shoulder, saying “I have you now!” and forcing you into submission. Or distraction.
So when I got home, Darth Vader grips me by the balls and drags me over to Starcraft 2 rather than working on those novels sitting in the corner. I love this game, far too much to be healthy. Almost as much as the Koreans, although maybe not quite. I don't professionally compete while playing it, that is. A bit of that before homework, then hitting the hay after that.
