Synopsis:
A group of teenaged or young-adult people work in an office together above a café called NomStation. The office is a graphic design firm, whose main task is producing a weekly magazine for the island on which they live, although it’s questionable as to whether or not everybody in the offices does graphic design. Also, they solve mysteries and fight crime. Also, they (the whole island, really) may or may not be funded by a mysterious crazy benefactor who invented an alternate energy solution, thus has loads of extra cash to run businesses like NomStation, the graphic design firm with few clients, and that wastes most of their time fighting crime.
Excerpt:
“I know these types of people,” explained Mathilda, “and I really don’t think they’re the type to up and decide it would b cool to just physically destroy an island. If anything, I bet they either want to preserve it, or just drive us away so they can do whatever they will with it. I would not be surprised at all if their intent is to get us to come to the mainland so they can storm the island and either replace everybody here with their people, or they can at least replace o ur leadership with their own. Basically,” she started the finish of her statement, “It’s a bad idea for us to leave this island right now.”
“Then what do we do?” asked Reilly
“What if we continued scanning the communications of a variety of organizations on the mainland?” suggested Mortimer. “I’ve been doing so and there’s a few interesting things going on the various networks I’ve got access to, and some of the activity is pretty interesting,” he said in a tone he chose so as to entice everybody else to ask more about the situation.
“That sounded so much like a tv show, by the way,” said Allen.
“Which leads the rest of us to the real question,” started Dr. Ligretto, “How do you have access to so many different networks?” he asked.
“Doctor, I think it’s called the Internet,” said Reilly, “and I think what Allen means was that Mortimer here actually knows more that he’s not going to tell us until we ask for it in a very specific way, in order to increase the dramatic effect.”
