Excerpt: Mindful

I looked up into the black sky filled with masses of stars. Mother took me and my brother to the top of the hill next to our house one night after it snowed and taught us how to blow out stars. We clapped our hands and laughed in delight when they twinkled, thinking we had actually blown them out.
