UNIDeL: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Super-Hero
an excerpt
It was becoming increasingly clear to American Glory that he should have stayed home and watched Super Man on DVD. But no, he had to go out and save the world. Again.
“It's the same thing everyday,” he muttered.
“What was that,” asked Baron von Redskull, cupping his hand to his ear. “I couldn't hear you over the raging river beneath you.”
American Glory looked down at the swift moving river and jagged rocks.
The Baron ground his boot heel on our hero's fingers. “You have interrupted my plans for the last time, American Gory.”
“Get the name right, Baron Numbskull,” he said through clenched teeth as he swung his free hand to the cliff edge and grabbed the villain's ankle.
The Baron drew his pistol from its holster. “I tire of our time together. But before I go, I'd like to introduce you to Mr. Luger.” He took aim at the red, white and blue clad adventurer and squeezed the trigger.
But before the gun could fire, American Glory threw himself from the cliff's edge and towards the river below.
Baron von Redskull laughed heartily. He offered his arm to his companion. “Shall we make our exit, Dear Haidee?”
The red skinned woman rolled her eyes and strode to the edge of the cliff. “Are you sure you finished him,” she asked as she scanned the scene below for a body.
The Baron put his arm around her waist, turning her to face him. “He'll never bother us again.” He pulled her towards his self and kissed her on the lips.
Suddenly, American Glory flew in a graceful arc over the cliff side, landing squarely on his feet just inches from the evil pair.
