Synopsis: Youniverse
Seventeen-year-old Dexter McDuff meets the very subject matter of his own home-made movies when he's taken from his home and family by a space/time rift gone wonky. Just when he thinks he's been displaced for good, learning to accept his new home in the far-flung future, the rift sends him once more through time and space -- and again, and again. It's apparent that there's something else at work here, and Dexter has to figure out what in order to get home again -- and send the people who have been brought along with him home, as well.
Excerpt: Youniverse
"Wow, you’re really quiet,” Devon said, scrutinizing Dexter, who was staring at what looked like a bowl of automated fruit. He stared at it. Because he was staring.
“Uh, yeah, sorry,” Dexter said, shaking his head. “Just got... really distracted. I think that banana is blinking.”
“Oh, yeah, that’s our potassium – o –meter,” Devon said, to a stare from Dexter. Dexter was doing a lot of staring today. No wonder, though, because he was stuck in the fifty-first century and there was a lot to stare at.
“Potassium – o – what?”
“It detects the amount of potassium in the room.”
“Why the hell would you need to know that?” Dexter hoped he didn’t sound rude, but that sounded quite silly to him. Devon shrugged.
“I don’t know, but Apple says it’s important.”
“What, knowing the amount of potassium? You guys are weird.”
“Yeah, I know. You want to go outside?”
“Hells yeah!”
