The Read and the Black
an excerpt

Damn. The young priest of the Sacred Heart of Jesus slammed the newspaper down on his old oak desk. He read the headline again.
Damn he muttered again. God, how could this happen again? Was it never going to end? He stared once more at the headline on his Milwaukee Sentinel.
Ex-Milwaukee Priest Charged.
He could only guess at what would follow the headline, and did not want to know. He began reading below the headline.

A former Whitefish Bay priest was charged Thursday with sexually assaulting three boys in the early 1970s before he was transferred to another parish, where he later was convicted of sexually assaulting a girl.
The priest was sent to California, where he ended up facing more allegations of sexual abuse. It is only because he left Wisconsin that Milwaukee authorities were able to charge him with the Whitefish Bay assaults, which they say occurred from 1969 to 1972.

The priest put the newspaper down. He did not want or need to know anymore.
