Brief Author Bio: My name is Zof, and I've just started a BA(Hons) in English Language & Linguistics with Education -- so my time to write this year could be limited, but I'm going to give it my best shot. I've won the last two years, and I'm determined to make it a hattrick! I recently escaped from four years' full-time work as an accidental accountant, and I'm thrilled to be out and finally doing something I really love. Outside of study and work, I've always loved to write; I also like drawing, though I'm not much cop at it, and love animals -- most notably my dog, an elkhound named Dief, and the chihuahua and cat with whom I share my house (they know who's in charge, and it ain't me). I'm your co-ML for the Newcastle (and tacitly Durham City Centre) area. Your other ML is my brilliant and dedicated partner FaeNixx (Nikita), and we're more than willing to answer any questions you have, or point you in the right direction if we don't know the answer. Local folks, if you happen to have an LJ, feel free to check out http://community.livejournal.com/nano_northeast/ for all your local news! We'll also keep you posted with regular ML emails and poke our noses into the forums, so we're always about if you need us. :] |

Synopsis: Life Story
Brash and by his own admission boring civil engineer Jacob Varley had no particular wish to travel to a backwater town in the north-east of England to execute his deceased uncle's estate, but with no other living relatives on record, the job falls to him whether he wants it or not.
Jacob expects to be in and out within a week, but although he clings to his decidedly non-fantastical life, the many secrets of the Manor capture his attention and he finds himself ever more unwilling to leave. Settling into life as a northern lord of the manor, he quickly discovers the change of pace is doing him good -- for the first time in living memory, he's even made a friend, in the form of the quick-witted and intelligent Amy Lindley, an aspiring author who ekes out a living in Toby Harper-Bright's permanently deserted bookshop. And as Jacob digs ever deeper into his uncle's home and life, he discovers things about the reclusive but brilliant author that even his fanatical fanbase hadn't found out -- like the powerful magic which allowed his characters to very literally come to life...
