Excerpt: Blood and Tears

Twentieth of November of the year Eighteen sixty

Sire,
As I told you in my last correspondence, I settled down in the Carolinas. As you undoubtedly have sensed, I have created a childe. Sweet Lisa. She’s a petite little thing, with hair that reminds me of the rising sun and the brightest blue eyes I’ve ever seen. You’d love her, sire.
Unfortunately this letter is not a happy missive, for I need your help. One of the few mortals that know of our kind grabbed my Lisa. I managed to rescue her—she still unlives but it is a precarious situation.
I do not know what to do. Please come to my aide; either to save Lisa or if it is too late to help me gain my vengeance.
