Later in the afternoon, Charles sank into a very light trance while he sat with Lady Rosalyn in the Wizards Maze. A breeze, like a lover’s hand, ruffled his thick hair and gently touched his warm cheek. The bird song quieted and only the rustle of the leaves in the hedges surrounding them could be heard.

Words were in his head. Words of warning. Louder and more insistent until Charles’ eyes opened and he turned to Lady Rosalyn and said, “ The stones are telling me that I must follow the intruder through time and either return him to this time or…”

“I understand. History will be changed in a very disagreeable way.” Lady Rosalyn sighed. “Well, join hands with me and we’ll attempt to find out just where and when you are to travel.”

They joined hands and suddenly, in the quiet the very stones hummed. Charles said, “It sounds like electricity, doesn’t it?” He had to raise his voice above the gusting wind as it battered them.
