Excerpt: Restless Soul

The blistering flames burned into her eyes. At that moment, the feeling crept back into her mind. Déjà vu. This seemed to occur whenever she was off guard. For weeks, this had been pouncing on her like a predator stalking its prey. As Hannah gazed into the roaring fire, all she could sense was that she had experienced this before.
It had begun as a mere feeling of unease, but now it had gone from something passable to a fear of when the next encounter would strike. Each one was more unexpected than the last, but as this sensation progressed, the more her daily life was being disturbed. Like a monster hiding in the gloomy corners of her mind, it was waiting. Waiting to yank her away from the outside and slaughter what was left.
