The Road Less Travelled
an excerpt
Inside the place was as dingy as it was out, and poorly lit beyond the beer signs and the flicker of the television behind the bar, stuck on ESPN and showcasing some sporting even or other. Jordanna didn’t recognize it, which meant it wasn’t likely hockey or baseball or football, but it did involve large men in uniform chasing each other around a field. As for the beer signs, they were amazing. There wasn’t just Molson Canadian, but Budweiser and Coors and Labatt’s represented as well, all different varieties, some which hadn’t been produced in years, all shining brightly in a brilliant display of neon tube artistry. The place was more-or-less empty, but Jordanna wasn’t sure if that was because it was still early, or if there really weren’t all that many people in town who drank.
