Synopsis: What Shall We Be Today, Darling?
Far future, where stem cell research and cloning has married, and now you can change your body just like you change your clothes.
BioMod has changed society drastically, even extending to our best friends, dogs, who can at last live as long as we do, and talk to us.
Excerpt: What Shall We Be Today, Darling?
Steven was a victim of the BioMod cults. His owners had modified themselves to the point where having a dog wasn’t a priority, or even possible. Among the many crazes in the last few years had been one of a reptilian nature. Giant gecko people clung to ceilings and ate ants, quiet blue-belly families sunned themselves on rocks, and the Jesus Lizards almost took over with their wild water walking parties and baptisms. Steven’s family, who hailed from Florida, had modified themselves into some sort of primeval alligator, and at one point their brains reverted to reptilian form as well and off they went, sliding into the swamp and away. Steven felt lucky they hadn’t eaten him. They’d never been seen again.
