Synopsis: In Pursuit Of His Pleasure
The sun around which peoples lives orbit is a clan. For a while that held true for Na'imah. But her status as the Ilemeck Cheif's daughter made her privy to a lot of things that were badly wrong with the whole clan system.
It was not selfishness on her part, but a real desire to go on out into the great unknown and figure out a path that impacted others.
Stumbling across love and joy on that path was not something she had anticipated when she intiially started out on the journey. That however did not mean that she would allow the things she did find to be snatched a way in the culmination of a war of ideas and theologies, a war that would mean the loss of lives.
Excerpt: In Pursuit Of His Pleasure
"Pathos. I love you, you have always been my biggest hero. But I cannot continue this way. I cannot. I've been struggling with this for a while now, and I know i am probably now to be considered a disappointment." Tears filled Na'imahs eyes and she choked slightly her voice cracking with the crushing thought of being ostracised from all that she had ever known. "I know that, but I have to go".
Na'imah stuck her chin out forcing herself to keep her posture as she waited for her father's response.
Hussein sighed and a weight seemed to fall down on to his shoulders. They drooped and he seemed to age before NA'imah's eyes.
"Very well. I presume you are making this decision knowing the all the repercussions that come with it?" His brow crinkled as he looked down at his daughter. Something constricted in his airways and he found himself wanting to hold her back and tell her she could not leave, but for the sake of their mother, deceased and gone he could not. She too had been a free spirit. Not truly conforming to the ways of the clan, subversive maybe.
Still, it was hard for him to stand stoic and watch his daughter. He had to remain staunch and stick to the rules established by those who had led before him.
"Yes. I understand the repercussions that my actions will bring Pathos".
Na'imah stared her father directly in the eyes, her heart breaking just that little bit more and it was a tearful smile that graced her features. "Maybe, one day, I can come back?" her voice was hopeful naively so and as she realized that the words had actually slipped out of her mind she gasped quietly. "No I am sorry. I do not suppose I ever could." It hurt it really hurt. She was trying to do what her entire being told her was right, even though it was most possibly the hardest thing she had ever had to do in her short life time.
