Synopsis: In the Time of a Dormant Sun

They allowed humanity to rule the world (as they scrutinized their actions from the sidelines) until the year 1995, when the Cold War (which did not end like it did our universe) escalated into a nuclear war.

The USSR and USA destroyed major parts of each others' countries is a single massive attack, and the vampires watched no more.

They seized control of the US and USSR, and later, every government of the world.

And in the aftermath of the nuclear attack, they forced the humans to group in the cities, which gradually became overcrowded and polluted, eventually obscuring the entire sky above them all in a continuous smog.

And in the present, the year 2024, the conditions for the humans have not improved, and for them, the world outside their cities remains unknown.

However, there are humans among them that are not humans at all. They are those who carry the Dormant Genes of a vampire,those who can become vampires themselves.

Once a year, representatives from the vampires venture into the cities and into the schools and scour the students for such individuals. And every year, some of them are torn painfully from their families, while some escape to the freedom of the world they do not know.

Connor DeWitt is one such individual.

And he was told by Aden Mavior that the world outside was a better, greater world.

But whether a world is shrouded in darkness and dilapidation or gleaming with with white marble and whimsical living, there is a always a good present, just as there is an evil.

And both Connor DeWitt and Aden Mavior are about to discover this evil.
