Excerpt: Lost in Wonderland

And as I walked into the aching hands of fate, I felt my heart beat and suddenly my world was flipped upside down. I felt my soul drift up wards, up towards where I supposed Heaven was. But it wasn’t right, something wasn’t right. I looked down on my mortal body and realised a very strange fact, I wasn’t dead yet. I looked down on my body as it walked towards the speeding car.

…Five meters away…
…Four meters away…
…Three meters away…
…Two meters away…
…One meter away…

Strangely enough, I didn’t feel the need to brace myself, neither did my body. I simply floated in tranquility with a peaceful mind as I watched the horrific scene unfold beneath me. As if in slow motion I saw the metal body of the taxi slam into my own, flesh. I watched the lady in the front seat brace her self and scream as the driver finally had the sense to slam on the brakes. The taxi stopped, I didn’t. The force of the metal monster had simply thrown me into the depths of the hole. I lost sight of my body and suddenly I was falling.

The hole seemed to stretch on for about a century though it was actually only about a second or two. I could only feel numbness and see black. I tumbled over and over, feeling just as I imagined it would be to fall down the rabbit hole. When in reality the hole was maybe two meters deep, I found it to be miles long. The suspense was killing me. I could only guess when I would smack into the concrete. It could be now or in my mind, years from now.

I was pondering this when I felt the fatal smash, I lay blindly in the bottom of that hole for about ten seconds, numb with shock before completely blacking out.
