Synopsis: The Book of Indiscreet Brillance (Working Title)
Synopsis of The Book of Indiscreet Brilliance or otherwise known as:
The Household (both are only working titles as I have yet to actually name it)
"When the prospect of love and family has been taken away, what is left? What else can a dying world cling to?"
Much has changed in the last 250 years. Wars are no more. Cancer has been cured. And now most of our women lack the ability to conceive.
Seventeen was the year in Mory’s world that the girls are checked for fertility. It was the year that Mory would leave her home to become something better, to make something of herself, to change the world. To become a mother.
It was the greatest thing anyone could ever have imagined for Mory.
There was the fame. The wealth. And the perfect doting husband. Everything a young woman could ever want came with the printed paper that arrives on her doorstep.
FERTILE.
The one word that would sweep her away to the capital city, where the young women were groomed to become brides, paraded on floats through the towering buildings that stretched to the sky, her face on their enormous flashing screens. Everyone knows her name, everyone wants to know her.
And everyone wants what she can give them.
In the weeks that follow her arrival into the city, Mory is swept away into a web of plots, spies, and people who are willing to do anything to obtain the chance at life Mory and the other girls can carry within them. And when some of the young mothers begin to go missing, Mory soon finds herself dealing with something far greater than what the city would have lead her to believe. Something that could instantly destroy the fragile world that they are trying to rebuild.
A young woman’s account of the past’s secrets, future struggles, and an unforgettable search of life in a world of pain and death.
