Excerpt: Not Pretending

Sydney smiled indulgently at Layla, if only for the fact that her best friend had allowed her to sling a sign across her chest that declared, “I’m tying the knot, buy me a shot!” It had started as a joke, but apparently these type of signs were taken quite seriously in Las Vegas and they were half way down the strip with enough free alcohol that Layla was practically dancing on the tops of bars. (That was Sydney’s fault, for taking them to the Coyote Ugly bar at the beginning of the night, she supposed.)
