Synopsis: The Hunt for Darkness
Teela Rosen was supposed to be a Hunter, supposed to be one of the few talented enough to sense the Dead that roam the human world and consume every living thing they see. Denied her final test, she is sent to Roran, a Hunter with some serious psychological problems about what's considered right and wrong.
Together, they uncover a massive conspiracy that could tear apart their world...and everyone in it.
Excerpt: The Hunt for Darkness
One never chooses to become a Hunter...they are chosen.
At a young age, we’re cultivated from the general populace, and children displaying exceptional talent with surfing the ether-stream, otherwise known as Death River, are taken from their homes, and given to a certain Master for safekeeping and training.
Safe keeping because the dead want to kill us.
Training because only the Hunters can kill the dead.
I was lucky, or as some would consider it, unlucky, to end up with one of the City’s geniuses, Ten Rammstein, a prodigy who became a Hunter at the age of thirteen. Becoming one at such a young age was almost unheard of, but his skill was unrivaled. There were bets going around that I’d be just as good. Or dead. Ten had little patience with the slow and clumsy, and he had a body count to prove it.
