Excerpt: Veterinary Hospital

Lisa awoke slowly from a deep sleep. She stretched a little, pondering the source of the disturbance. But it was only after she snuggled closer to the warmth next to her, that she found the cause. The breath puffing over her right shoulder was fetid, to put it nicely

"Eeewww, your breath could wake the dead." She complained as she pulled away.
The mattress shifted as Barry got up and lumbered into the bathroom. She didn't remember hearing when he had come in that night. Lisa knew he'd been out late 'howling" with the guys, but he was usually more concerned with hygiene. Barry must have been tired when he got home. She heard a crunching coming from the bathroom, as she tried to get back to sleep.
Before she could, the mattress moved again and she rolled back towards the source of the disturbance.
"Better?" he growled as he curled in behind her.
"HHmmff.. I suppose. If you like the smell of milk bones, it's definitely an improvement."
she grouched, getting frustrated that she might not be able to get back to sleep.
"You bought them." he grumbled.
"And you're shedding." she grumped back.
"And you're grouchy when you wake up." he huffed.
Lisa opened one eye and bleared at the alarm clock.

"Yeah... well I have to get up to go to work in an hour. You're off for the next couple days. I wish I could take off every full moon too." She shut her eyes firmly, as if that would help.
"We've got an hour?" Barry asked with a different tone to his growl this time.
