Synopsis: Life Goes On
I started writing this novel or novella as some may call it with the intentions of writing a story about hope and about cancer and how it can affect everyone around it. I imagined I would tell how it might affect a son or daughter, spouse and friends. My mother died of lung cancer just over 3 years ago. I’m pretty sure that many if not most people know of someone who has had cancer and won the fight or lost the fight and died. This may be too close to reality for some people. However, part way into it, a few unexpected things happened to the storyline. I found that just writing about the day to day happenings was boring. Then a dear friend of mine, who had been fighting cancer for 11 months died. It all became too hard to write about, though I do expect to be able to look back when editing this in a few months to add some of those not so raw feelings back into the storyline. Cancer happens every where, right now there are people fighting it and people who have given up the fight. This story is about the rest of us, and hopefully you will gain some insight into how to make the best of things as life goes on.
Excerpt: Life Goes On
Jane and Thomas held hands as they sat in the rocking chairs on the veranda… another crisis averted, for now anyway. They had gotten used to calm quiet weeks where there were no dramas, but ever since Jane was diagnosed with cancer, and Bailey had come to live with them, there was always something happening.
