A Boy By Any Other Name
an excerpt
“What exactly is this, anyway?” I asked as I opened a Tupperware container full of something. It smelled vaguely of peanut butter, but I didn’t really trust that that was what it was. Even though my grandmother was an amazing cook, they were left-overs after all.
“No bake cookies,” Abbey answered, taking the dish from me. “I think… yeah, I’d say that. Although they’ve probably been in there for about a month and are now completely fused together into one super cookie! Sweet. I call dibs!” I grabbed the container from her.
“Hey, I found it first!” I exclaimed. Abbey tried to reach out and grab me, but I just stepped away from her, and she fell flat on her face.
“Now, now, children,” Lucas said from his position sitting at the kitchen bar. I just looked over at him.
“Like you can talk,” I said. He grinned and held up some cookie batter that grandma had said we could eat.
“All’s fair in love and war, babe,” he said as he dug in.
