Synopsis: Because He Was A King
The airplanes didn't get him, and twenty years after the New York incident the gorilla is an old and broken ape, working matinee shows to grandmas and grandsons in Las Vegas. Ann Driscol, tied by bonds of love to the ape, is stuck with him, as is Carl Denham, tied by bonds of money and obligation. But events are in motion. Carl has his eye on a talented young country singer from Memphis, and a rich industrialist is planning an expedition back to Skull Island. Pretty soon the world may remember the name 'Kong' again.

“Denham had the greatest attraction the world,” explained the Colonel, “and nearly reduced it to cheap nostalgic sideshow. When I saw the show last year it was tired and old fashioned, without Howard Hughes' money you'd have been chucked out of the New Frontier by now and then where would you go! If I managed Elvis he would be my only client, I'd devote all my time to him. Elvis is going to outgrow your show before long, he should be recording his own music and in the hit parade, he should be in movies. Do you think Denham is going to let him do any of that? Do you think Denham has the time to negotiate any of that? Do you think Denham wants Elvis for any other reason than to help promote his giant monkey?”
