Come Write In: Independent Bookstores

The Office of Letters and Light loves books. We love them so much that we encourage kids, teens and adults all over the world to write a book every November during National Novel Writing Month! And we are taking this noveling mission to independent bookstores around the world with our project Come Write In: Independent Bookstores.

Participating bookstores in the US, Canada, and abroad are opening their doors to local November novelists, and helping us build a relationship between local writers and their book-loving neighbors! Bookstores will receive a customizable press release, a Come Write In! kit for just the price of shipping, (complete with a poster, window cling, and bookmarks!) and the adoration of our participants and supporters. Here’s a look at last year’s Come Write In kit.City of Novelists poster, Come Write In bookmark and Write Your Novel Here window cling

If you work in a bookstore and would like to participate, please fill out this form. We’ll add you to our database and send you information about ordering your Come Write In kit.

Here’s a list of suggested books to display for your event.

Your region may have a Municipal Liaison, a volunteer dedicated to organizing events in your area and monitoring your regional forum. To find out if there’s a Municipal Liaison (ML) near you, see the list here. They’ll appreciate hearing from you, and it may be the beginning of a mutually beneficial partnership. As partners, you might coordinate events, share write-in space, and/or have your events listed on your region’s official calendar.
