Some that I took from last year. most are general. And no none of these are mine.
-Use the dictionary.com word of the day, every day that you write this november.
-Have your characters explore an abandoned building + if they find something important to the plot there ++ if they didn't know they needed this item that they find. +++ if they had no reason to be in the building in the first place Cookie: if the building disappears from existence and there is no mention of it ever again.
-Include well known song lyrics in your novel (for example, have a character say "Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand") Cookie from me-If it is an internet meme (like Friday by rebecca black)
Taking the lyrics thing- kind of. I was already planning on basing my novel on song lyrics from my favorite artist. But most of his songs aren't necessarily well known.
Ooh! Taking the building one, with +, ++, and cookie.
Leaving: The next time you're in a restaurant or coffee shop, do some people watching. Take notes on the most interesting-looking person you see. Create a character out of them, and insert them in your novel.
