Happy Friday! And for those of you who celebrate it—Happy Veteran’s Day! Thank you so much for making 30 Covers, 30 Days such a success as we end this second week of November. Today’s cover was created by Chip Wass, designer extraordinaire:
Les Contes de Fées Enchantées de Maître Chevalier by Ryanna Coleman
From Cinderella to Thumbelina, with Snow White, Peter Pan and King Arthur in between, as well as many many other famous and popular fairy tales, this collection of retold fairy tales is darker than most.
And with five new fairy tales that will delight the reader and a foreword and conclusion by chronicler Master Chevalier, Les Contes de Fées Enchantées de Maître Chevalier will be a timeless classic.
Chip Wass has created characters, illustrations and logos for Disney, Nick at Nite, Cartoon Network, Target, The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly among others. He is currently writing and illustrating a novel for young readers. Visit www.chipwass.com.
I love the whismical feel of this! It reminds me of Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network and Disney's old stuff. (And then I read his bio... Wow... I'm smart.) Timmy Turner in particular.
Interesting-- I like the colors a lot. Not quite what I would expect from "a darker retelling of fairy tales" though. Love the guy on top, who is partially cut off though.
love it! love the cutesyness of it. maybe the cartoony cutseyness is supposed to be ironic if the fairytales are supposed to be darker than normal - sounds like a GREAT story! and as the above poster said, i love the guy at the top cut off... one of my fave covers so far! :D
I'm personally not a big fan of the shades of color, but maybe it's better like that rather than being bright and blinding somebody. Otherwise, I really love it! Not only the cover, but the synopsis also. Both are brilliant!
This is just lovely! I particularly like the cartoon cuteness of it combined with some of the creepier elements -- the crow, the bug with the big pointy tooth, the spider. Perfect for a collection of "darker than most" fairy tales. I would read the hell out of this.

Re: 30 Covers, 30 Days 2011: Day 11
reminds me more of the Power Puff Girls or Johnny Bravo type animation
Re: 30 Covers, 30 Days 2011: Day 11
That vein, yes. Though I can see a hint of Disney in there :3

So much fun! It's about time we had a more charming and less super-serious cover.
Re: 30 Covers, 30 Days 2011: Day 11
Not meant in a negative way at all, by the way. I'm enjoying the variety and skill put into all these covers.
